How different does our forward line look when they get on the move and we don’t bomb it in??
Seriously what a difference
I think Sharmans just shown that another lead up option causes chaos for the opposition and I’d like to think he’s forced some others to get busy
Ratts move Steele up forward also showed great promise

It depends who is on the table for those picks?

I’d give up a first round pick for an already elite U23yo

Why wouldn’t you?

You’re not even guaranteed an elite player with pick 1

I really hope they leave Sharman to play on his instincts for his leading patterns.....he is a natural.

Well done Ratts. He proved last year when he had the group around him nearly 24/7 how influential he could be. He's so positive and he get's the best out of most of the players

Keep on sticking it up the doubters Ratts

Byrnes tried hard but made alot of errors tonight.
Should keep his spot though.
Connolly also not a great night.

I think one of them might make way for Bytel vs Geelong

Is Hannas playing this weekend? If so he may be back next week.

He also took the game on and did some nice things
I actually liked Bytels touches when he came on ..just doesn’t panic and uses well even off limited minutes

Ratts needs to stay away from Sharman and let him do his thing.
Don't do what Richo would do
I.e. don't get in his head and confuse him, don't stunt his development.
Ratts already ruined Battle
Sharman is a nugget found in the river sands, pure luck, early call yes, but it's exciting :D

Funny how fashions work....the players in this photo have nice 'fresh' haircuts like the youth of today - except no mullets or mohawks back then

Some Saints including Hannas played in a combined match with Richmond against two other clubs.

No doubt both had quiet nights, especially their first halves. What was noticeable though was their willingness to run, a lot of it unrewarded running, in the 2nd half. It meant Sydney had to try to man up, rather than guard space, opening up the corridor. Both will have better games and I hope both play out the year.

Special mention to Joyce, given the job on Reid who looked dangerous at times but ultimately won his battle.

Darragh did a great job last night - some of his efforts were quite exceptional. It’s a shame he hasn’t had more game time at this level because he strikes me as the type who will just grow incrementally each week into a very good player. He’s unlike
to be A grade and I know we never have time to wait, but I reckon the slow burn is starting to pay off.

I agree SF, between Joyce & Clavarino we have a couple of likely key backs. Joyce with more opportunities & Clavarino with more weights. We have a solid back six with a good blend of intercept markers and creative run. If we break even in the middle or win, the back six's work is so much easier.

Perhaps an additional key back is not a pressing priority. Certainly not as pressing as finding Ryder's heir to assist RoMa, finding a quick, goal kicking mid to assist and complement Steele, Jones and Crouch & of course, Operation Get Bing.

Good call
Connolly finished with 270 meters gained to compare Jones had 279 for a kid a decent effort couple that with his evasive abilities (I’m yet to really see him rag dolled) plus his good use abs he becomes a very dangerous player in future
Must persist with him, Byrnes , Bytel (who looked very good with limited time ..Ratten noted it too) there is better versions of Billings, Dunstan and Ross there already
I’d keep 1 of the aforementioned 3 and pump games into these kids

I think after last week it was important for our mids to respond...especially with the lack of height and experience down back

We were switched on as a group and our ever reliable defenders like Webster, and Wilkie started the game well (ably supported by the mids and Hill and Sincs).

I think I may have the reason the Swans players didn't have much energy

Might have something to do with a few of them reuniting with wives and girlfriends 8-)

Mitch Cleary and Kane Cornes had stats to show Swans were way down on their normal metrics

The GWS boys are a younger group and perhaps not as many had partners relocate to Melbourne

Holding the ball. Just have to laugh.
He had 5 chances to give it off before that.

We are still getting slaughtered out of the middle, surely Ratten tries someone different in there. And I dont mean Ross. Try Byrnes or even Higgins in there for a couple of minutes.

Dunstan is attempting to tag Parker and he is killing him.

Our defence are holding up well, Sinclair is having a blunder, but it's only a matter of time if Sydney are allowed to dominate the middle like they have been.
Blunder? blinder maybe.
