Some convincingly like HOs Contested possessions and I50s
Lost by 5 goals
What does that say?!

Re: Team Stats
Lost it at selection. Playing Hunter was just ridiculous playing Kent even worse.

Re: Team Stats
We lost the "eye ball" stat.
Team clearly was not on tonight. Dreadful skills, even worse decision making and often questionable effort.

Re: Team Stats
Most stats were really close, except tackles 79-64, which says it all.

Re: Team Stats
I would suggest it says that stats are overrated in measuring performance. You only had to watch the match to see who clearly played better on the night

Re: Team Stats
No it doesn’t not at all. We had 87 tackles against Geelong meant zero.

Re: Team Stats
Quality possessions are key
Clean clearances are key
Hit outs to advantage are important
Tackles i50 are important
Intercept marks are important
Turn overs - critical

Re: Team Stats
We easily won the stupid count. Its being checked but was possibly a higher aggregate rating than last 10 minutes against Port which set a high bench mark.
Hope in 2022 club's quest for diversity means some players are fielded with IQs above their jumper numbers.
On jumpers, as in that wot they don't play for, surprised some jumpers were not on backwards because if you cannot remember your team mates are in black and the opposition are in white life is a bit of a challenge and things like shoe laces and fronts of jumpers might also cause confusion.

Re: Team Stats
Yes B.M.......quality possession and turnovers. That's the biggest issue, and we know who the culprits are. Like I've said a few times, there's no room in the game anymore for guys who can't kick or choose the right option. I don't care if a player gets 27 possessions each week if he can barely hit a target. The ball comes straight back, and puts all the other players out of position. Crap disposal under no pressure is something that robs your own team of scoring opportunities and hands them to the opposition. It's basically two goal turnaround in a lot of cases. That's why us and Carlton are so inconsistent. Both teams suffer from the same affliction, it's just that in this particular game all the stars lined up for Carlton while we juts touched it up with poor decision making and poorer disposal

Re: Team Stats
They made the most of their opportunities and kicked straight when it mattered - 15 goals 2 behinds to 3 quarter time.

Extreme accuracy, a sign of no pressure as well as arse?perfectionist wrote: ↑Sat 31 Jul 2021 9:55amThey made the most of their opportunities and kicked straight when it mattered - 15 goals 2 behinds to 3 quarter time.

Re: Team Stats
Bit of both. We "gifted" them three shots (in the first three quarters that I saw anyway) but they still had to be kicked. Most of their "snaps" went through, most of ours didn't. Skill level had something to do with that.whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Sat 31 Jul 2021 10:05amExtreme accuracy, a sign of no pressure as well as arse?perfectionist wrote: ↑Sat 31 Jul 2021 9:55amThey made the most of their opportunities and kicked straight when it mattered - 15 goals 2 behinds to 3 quarter time.

Re: Team Stats
This tells you a bit....
Cant sleep so I thought I would give my 2 cents at answering that. For me it comes down to kicking ability, confidence and decision making
Group 1: Dunstan, Ross & Billings
Collectively more than 325 games, 200+ goals, almost 80 brownlow votes and multiple B+F awards. They are all squarely in their footballing prime
Tonight 72 disposals. One kicked @ 20% kicking efficiency, one at 45% and one at 70% (and don't start me on the 40+ metre airballs to no-one that got him to 70%)
Group 2: Byrnes, Connelly & Clark
Collectively much less than 100 games, about 10 goals, 0 brownlow votes and never got close to a B+F
Tonight 48 disposals. Byrnes 17 @ 82%. Clark 85% DE. Connelly 13 kicks @ 69% KE (while biting off some seriously ambitious running efforts)
I think some of us forget just how badly this place was Richoed. You just have to look at what Connelly does with the ball after running away from an opponent compared to Ross to see the stark difference in kicking ability, confidence and decision making
So for me the problem isn't that we dominated the stats you highlighted. That is a good thing. The problem is who accumulated those numbers, and the decisions they made when they actually had the ball. It is not an accident that Weitering and Jones had 20 intercept possessions between them (mostly from our 51 entries). I think the last few weeks has reminded us that having players like Ross or Dunstan with high CBA's and lots of disposals is just not a recipe for winning football games
So moving forward, I guess that means we just have to back the kids over some of our more senior players. Even up until 2 weeks ago I was arguing against the 'trade Billings' crew (and I still know he is playing injured and how good his best is). But after tonight, I am starting to think that letting our FA's (Billings, Ross and Dunstan) walk might be the best thing for the club. Perhaps keep one for institutional memory and seniority. Just please for the love of all that is good, don't let that one be Ross

Re: Team Stats
Why would that not suit my agenda ? I don’t look at stats in isolation I look at impact and know Ross had none
Once again can’t see the forest for the trees ....
Best pop me on ignore
BTW how does one do that on here I’m truly interested
