Tom Highmore

Has shown good signs in the games he's played down back. If he continues his form from last night will that make him a regular fixture? What does that mean for our backline next year?

His reading of the play & intercept marking was very good last night but needs to work on his disposal IMO

The only positive from a very dreadful night IMHFO.

That loss ranks with the worst ever. also IMHFO.

As disappointing as it was, I took away a couple of positives.
Thought max took a few steps in the right direction, Higgins continues to impress

Highmore this game, and whilst we won’t acknowledge it, Hill was decent last night, kept presenting and trying in the last quarter when it looked like we had nine players on the field.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Not a naturally gifted kick, but did exhibit the skill satisfactorily at state level, where the pace and pressure was less demanding.
I wouldn't write him off yet.
He is not being gifted games and like Paton, Wilkie, Marshall and Sinclair, has shown a lot of what it takes to improve quickly at the state level and may develop further in the right environment.

I’m staggered that someone with that kicking action would be drafted?

He has a red hot crack, and if he was a 198cm key defender you could look past the kicking

But as a medium defender you need to be able to kick

The following have to be up there: -

*Hawthorn defeated St. Kilda, 63 point deficit – Round 12, 1999
The Saints kicked nine goals to one in the opening term, before leading by as much as 63 points five minutes into the second quarter. The Hawks then rallied, kicking 16 of the last 19 goals, to run over the top of the Saints to win by 13 points; 17.7 109 to 14.12 96.

*Collingwood defeated St. Kilda, 60 point deficit – Round 10, 1970
St. Kilda was on the wrong end of the ledger again here, after blitzing the Pies early to lead by 60 points at the 27 minute mark of the second quarter. The Saints led 11.8 74 to 2.10 22 at half time, before the Pies outscored St. Kilda by 12 goals to three in the second half, to record a seven point win. The Magpies arguable could have won by more, as they wasted their chances in front of goal, scoring 14.23 107 to St. Kilda’s 15.10 100.

Totally agree!

The other thing he cant do is turn his possessions into an attacking rebounding option.

1 Because of his lack of kicking penetration.
2 His lack of leg speed or offensive game whatsoever.

Im not sold on him at all. He may improve after a full preseason but IMO he is another tweener and another wasted draft selection.

Hasn’t he already had a full pre season?

Or do you mean another one!

He’d be a good selection, in the third round - but for his disposal

Which is pretty horrendous

In previous games he has played his disposal seemed fine. A few more games will tell where he rates in that respect

Bad kicking action.... he will fit right in. Maybe try him out of the goal square.

As for worse loss... not even close.
Reminded me of the Saints Adelaide game in early 2000s. Saints where up 35 (ish) at quarter time and basically didn't score thereafter.

He shanked 2 kicks. His others weren't that bad. He's a better kick than Jason Blake.
