Humidity or concerntration

Post: # 1900692Post older saint »

What was the cause of all the dropped uncontested marks yesterday, especially in the first half. It was like watching a game in torrential rain , except it was sunny and dry.

Was it the humidity or was it they were just not switched on or struggled to concentrate int he heat?

I have history of outdoor sport in all sorts of weather.
Humidity will cause fatigue as sweat doesn't evaporate, so the body can't lose enough excess heat.

Causes poor judgement.
So it was your first n third options combined.

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Well let me concentrate on on those two choices.

I was definitely concerned.

So I will go with Option B = concerntration ;)

2020 we played several games at Metricon.
The players and support staff would know exactly what type of boots are needed.
Moulded soles vs screw-in stops, etc

Same thing happened in a lot of the day games there last year. Seems the sweat or conditions make it hard to mark the ball.

Most of our games last year were played at the Gabba.
We played the Suns at Metricon and the final against Richmond but I can’t think of any other.

Whenever we play at Metricon there is an issue with a heavy Dew on the ground, particularly at 1/4 time and 3/4 time.

  Gold, Busso Mick

Our coach isn’t getting too far off that weight. Did you see on TV, I think it was as Ratts was getting up to go to the 3/4 time huddle? There was an image of his belly hanging out over the top of his trousers, as his shirt had lifted, when he got up from a sitting position. It wasn’t a good look at all.
Methinks Ratts might need to begin to look after his diet a little, he looks so red & flushed in his face during matches, the blood pressure might need stronger tablets to keep it under control when under extreme pressure. Also weight coming off might assist him.

Bit of both.

We certainly made a lot of mistakes in the third quarter.

no humidity, no dew. i reckon one culprit was sunscreen. saw a lot of players wiping their faces getting sunscreen on their hands. used to make the same mistake myself playing sport in alice.

Sun/glare in eyes; need to mandate yellow ball. Also no atmosphere at that venue in the day so hard to switch on.
All in all not a showcase for AFL. Just a matter of how long before GC experiment is shelved and losses cut, what a shocking waste. (See any desperately defensive interview by club President, who must see writing on the wall).

i heard that question asked at the match

“i thought the balls were red
why are they yellow ?”

why did the afl go down that route ?

ok if this is correct its an unforgivable mistake given they resided & played in QLD last year
I did notice one of our players wearing zinc which is a lot safer for the hands
but either way grippo should eliminate any slipperiness
Regardless, it wasnt that humid game day however you do tend to see some ordinary skilled games at Metricon
Maybe its the quality of the teams playing there because 24 hrs later the Lions seemed pretty skilled in their win at the gabba
