Hunter Clark's two goals

The best 2 goals of the night.
They deserve a thread.

2nd quarter - does it all - intercepted a kick, ran, sold candy, steadied and goaled.
4th quarter - charged back to receive a handball but forced to run wide to the pocket boundary but then able to run along the boundary and with a nice give-get with Max ran almost to the square to slot the goal.

Both were fantastic.
Perhaps the first was marginally the better???

HC has a bit of X factor.
He's only kicked 8 goals in total (54 games), but perhaps now he will have the confidence to score more frequently.

Reckon if he develops that same elite attitude to his prep, he’ll be as good if not surpass the great man. Maybe won’t be as tough but looks to be more skilled

Agree with all but also agree with what B.M. has said in that he really needs to develop elite endurance. Pace not so much a concern as like Pendlebury & David Rhys Jones, play stops around him and his vision / decisions are quite sound.

Agree but with that Nicky Dal ability of seemingly slowing down time around him, thrown in with Pendelbury's smooth movement style.
He's quality. Kid could become a champion.

Were rather good, as in jump to feet and cheer. He certainly covered some ground. Goals were fair reward for a serious effort all over the ground. Took the opportunities so well, even when at least one opportunity was far from obvious.

It’s a real test of our development

The comparison to Hayes is a decent one in terms of development.

People generally don’t remember this because Hayes was elite for so so long bit 2-3 years into his career and the majority here weren’t that convinced of Lenny.

He was absolutely a promising young player albeit a bit inconsistent but most noted the same deficiencies.

Hayes wasn’t fast... his disposal was far from elite and his endurance/toughness wasn’t what it would go on to become.

What we’re his elite qualities? Was it better to move him on while he still had value rather than keep an 18-22 ranked player kid

Hayes famously said somewhere around 03-04... he made a conscious decision to not just have a good career but do everything in his power to have a great career and he did.

Hayes for all of his limitations paid maximum attention to his prep...
Worked as hard as he could at his fitness
Did all of the optional recovery and pre-game prep
Watched his diet, didn’t party hard etc

And it completely showed.
Not only did he reach an elite level of endurance/toughness but for a guy that was an extremely physical player... over 10 years I don’t remember him having a ton of soft tissue injuries or games he couldn’t run out.

Mission’s book really highlights how driven he really was... was the only guy over the 08-11 era that consistently attended the 0500 optional water recovery sessions the club ran

And that is the challenge for Clark
He’s got that same take the play of, power through a contest attitude and composure under pressure but his disposal and aerial work is better than Lenny who was a lot tougher, fitter and a better tackler

I just reckon if Hunter does absolutely everything in power to be as fit and ready for games and to get the best out of himself, he could surpass the great man... surpass Steele and be one of the absolute premium champions in the league
