Pick 21

Post: # 1882603Post outside66 »

Does anyone have any idea on some players that we might be looking at for our first rounder? Obviously a hard draft to get a read on but if anyone had some insight on who could be near the mark then that would be great.

Will probably be pushed back a bit, but I like Finlay McRae & Eddie Ford as midfielders or Max Heath as a ruckman for our 1st selection. Jackson Callow is another a tall forward from Tassie who really clunks his marks.

We have promised Jake Bowey (Brett's son), we will take him with pick 64 if he is still there obviously. How certain am I of this? 100% certain.

Goodbye.

May as well if said we will pick up Jamara Unke Hagen at pick 64 if he is still there.

Bowey is a tipped to go pick 39 the club know he won’t be available at it that pick so I am calling crap on your post but at least you are consistent

It's not crap at all. Jake Bowey has told my ITK that he has not had any discussions with any of the other 17 teams. So far no team has shown any interest in him at all. Except for St Kilda who have guaranteed to pick him up on the main list at pick 64.

Goodbye.

We must remember on draft night there is a chance of live trading of picks so we could move up the draft table. If Jake Bowey does get through to our 2nd he would be a good pickup and I note from the National Testing he has grown to a 177cm's.

Yes, his son. Unfortunately Brett only played 80 odd games for us.

Unfortunately he could still ride the Melbourne Cup lightweight, provided they put a few kilos in the saddle.

Is there any possibility of a trade up?
I am guessing that this wouldn't be too bad as with reduced list sizes the last picks in the draft are probably still in the 60s.

I haven't had a look at any other teams needs to trade to match academy pick bids.

It would make sense a_d if we decide to only use the one pick, package up all our junk for a future 2nd if there are sides requiring said junk for Academy prospects.

I have had a look.
Once we get past our first round pick, even if we fry to “bundle” our other next 3 picks (64,67,74) they would be worth a combined total of pick 58! Not to mention there is no incentive for any team to trade for that, including academy picks etc.
So not really worth anything.
That all changes if we dive into future picks, but even then, we now can’t touch our 1st round, so all we have left is 3rd & 4th round left, so about the same scenario again.

I’d be more interested in getting more future picks. If clubs only take one player this year it should mean that next years pool is deeper. Have to make sure we have at least a full complement of picks in 2021.

I think clubs will be able to add players during the season. It was suggested that after round 4 there may be an opportunity to draft or bring in young talent

Thanks, Ghost Like. I thought that might be the case. Are we ever going to get access to a decent
player via the Father/Son rule? I note Robbo has been stuck on 91 games for the best part of 2 1/2 years. He has three boys, I believe. Just our luck he'll finish just short as well.

Jake Carlisle as well. Needs another 38 for us to get access to his latest addition. What has happened to Jet Peckett and Loewie's boys?

We might be waiting for the Reiwoldt boys I think.

I just went through Cal Twomey's November draft update and from his Top 25 prospects I counted 7 who have ties to clubs through this Next Gen Academy rubbish. So our Pick 21 is likely 28. I hope we've done our homework & have half a dozen names ready to call out should one of them slide.
