Cameron leaving gives GWS more money to offer others, Jye in particular

Free agency is flawed. Tops up Top 4 clubs ... Lynch first, then Daniher and Cameron.

Double screws us as money now goes to Caldwell. Probably explains why he hasn’t nominated us. Watch AFL step in to Top up his salary ...

Free agents need to restricted from going to Top 4 clubs.

It’s a disgrace that those top 4 clubs can get the free agents without even using a draft pick.
It’s like getting a bonus number one pick!

Higgins a total waste of effort.
He will be 33 not 23 next year.

Witherden the right age but contracted to Lions for 2021 and 2022.

Caldwell worth the chase.

Both clubs in the move gain.
The destination club get a free gift .
And the club losing the player gets a draft pick gift.
Adelaide very keen to see a player go if they get a first rounder draft pick compensation.

Plus our first round draft pick slips one place.

Nobody knows what the list size is going to be or what the salary cap is going to be because the AFLPA refuses to meet with the AFL.
The problem being a selfish AFLPA leader putting himself first.
Wants to concentrate on more personal matters like preparing to play finals.
But still wants to be part of the negotiations, but later.

Piss off Dangerfield.
I hope your team loses.

That’s my point -why should the destination club get a free gift at the detriment of all other teams in the competition .

I think the theory is that the money their not paying Tim Kelly, plus the retirement of Ablett and possibly Taylor frees up the necessary cap space.

Isn’t it about the player? He has a right to chose where he wants to work. Of course he chooses a good employer. I have no problem with that. The salary cap makes sure it can’t happen too often with the same club.

If Cameron goes to the Cats you'd think that some players (mids) may not be getting what the could get somewhere else...like the Saints.

And while I don't like the idea of Cameron going to the Cats, and how Lynch went to the Tigers, but hopefully we're a top 4 side in the coming years and can take advantage of a flawed system.

Still, can't see how they can fit Higgins, Crouch and Cameron in.

And that's they're.

Disappointing that we haven’t won this one.
We need to woo and win a FA and soon
Paying too much for players, as in picks - whilst clubs like Geelong get freebies keep setting us back
Think bigger saints

The AFL sold free agency on the basis that it will even up the comp as the top sides would not be able to afford them.

Instead we see the Lynches and Camerons of the world finding their way to the top clubs.
One wonders what deals are being done?

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Free Agency is about the player. The top draft picks usually go to bottom teams and in many cases interstate. They have a right to leave after ‘doing their time’ to a club of their choice with the prospect of success.

Yes, but that wasn't how the AFL sold it.

True, but clubs shouldn't be able to restructure contracts to free up money to add FAs. This tactic allows the destination clubs to extend their reign as destination clubs.

FA would be fine if clubs did not have to pay X amount of the salary. How or why should North have to pay 95% of their cap next season, whilst Geelong are only paying 5% more and picking up the contracts of Cameron and Higgins. It is this requirement that keeps clubs down, paying overs for a lot of their cattle. If this was not in place, true war chests could be created allowing Clubs to entice players with sign on fees saved from actually paying what their list is worth.

Veterans list long gone.
I suspect Ablett came "home" for little coin, he just wanted to finish his career in a decent team.
Sick of playing for coaches who did not have a clue.
