It will ultimately come down to whether Selwood and Ablett want Jack around the club- you heard it here first.

I see Scott also having a say in that. He is a hard task master who has great relationships with those who deliver to expectations and is ruthless with those who don't.

That sort of comment wont go down well at the Cattery. It increases the risk associated with the player and how that might look as destabilising at their club too.

Silly comment Jack. Even if its true don't spread the word, it doesn't favour your situation.

Where did Jack say this?

Reckon the Cats will end up backing off and that Steven will remain a Saint.

What happens if you cast aspersions on the character of a St Kilda player and get a one week ban.
But before the end of the week he has walked to another club ceasing to be a St Kilda player.
Now if you get reinstated can you repeat those aspersions without getting banned again.

So Jack retires
St Kilda is forced to drop off the list to activate a draft pick.
Jack nominates for the draft.
No club other than Geelong will touch him like happened with Luke Ball.
St Kilda gets nothing for him.

So we tell him or his manager that if he retires he will remain on our list as a contracted player.

I personally think those two options are the most likely (purely my opinion only).
There was a brief mention of Jack in the HS today saying that the Saints and Cats were a long way apart in a trade increasing the chances of him staying with StKilda. I'd be quite comfortable with that.

think it will get done but Geelong always want something for nothing.

Look when Dangerfield wanted to come it was great he wanted to come home, now Kelly wants to go home and they want to play hardball.

Let him retire and nominate for the draft, Geelong will pick him up and offer him 400k
which would mean he’d lose somewhere around 400k.
Trust me he won’t take that option.

Im really not fazed if the club stands its ground on this and forces him to retire, if he decides he wont play for us.

I know a little bit about Jacks problems and Im not that sympathetic. He's caused a lot of his own mess. While I wish him well in any mental health issues, he's also a grown man and needs to take responsibility for his own actions.

The players have way to much say in their movements IMO. NBA teams send players where they want. Don't like it, too bad! Dont get the mega salary and play in the lower leagues wherever you want.

I'd fully expect GC to play hardball with BKing if he does decide to move. So they should, even if it is to our detriment. Clubs need to take some of the power back as players are controlling it too much.

I applaud Geelong for taking such a hard stance on Kelly.
Clubs spend mega $$$ on player development only to loose them on a whim. Unless we're talking family illness, or cant get a game etc, no problem, that I understand. Wanting to move because of homesickness, girlfriends etc should be treated more harshly. We're only talking 5-10 years of their lives here. The money they make is ample remuneration for the sacrfice they make on a personal level.

I read somewhere that we might end up paying some of his salary? Surely not under any circumstance.
If he wants to go ...thanks see ya later.

Entirely. 10000000000%. The indignity in having to settle for pick 57 could only be compounded by having to pay his wage too. I’d rather he sit out on full salary than have to pay a single dollar towards him helping the Cats contend again; let alone go deep into a finals series. 🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻

We had pick 28 on the table for Luke ... then Ross’ ego took over. Got zilch.

This time - we have pick 57. It’s the same as no pick anyway. Jack can sit out for all I care if that’s the deal

Might do after Kelly move.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

In a bottom side?
Ross was 24th with 14 votes. Jack had 11 votes (couldn't find s total vote tally list).

How can he be traded for anything less than a first round selection, just one year later?
When fit again (acknowledging issues in 2019), he is a STAR.

Yep ahead of Dangerfield and 1 behind Martin. Mitchell blitzed them all.

if he wants to be with family we can help him

How much would it cost to fly him from Moorabbin airport several times a week? It can be done can't it.... if he still wants to be a St Kilda player that is

if he wants to play for Geelong and doesn't care what happens with the St K FC, then that is a different matter

" With the Saints now expecting to receive a second-round selection, it is understood both parties are on the same page in the Saints paying a portion of his wage for 2020."

Supposedly pick 33

Watch him tear us a new A-hole in 2020 while we pay for the privilege.

Why on earth are we even entertaining paying his wage ?
