They can get the best 18 year old midfielder in the country with their first pick.
Melbourne, Carlton and St Kilda shouldn't get shafted over this.
Gold Coast could recruit Nathan Brown, the Aints don't want him, apparently.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

And judging by their results and p*ss p00r efforts over the past three seasons they could do a lot worse. At least he would give them a reliable lock down full back for a season (maybe two).

We need to really try to develop the defenders we already have on the list and hopefully, get Webster and Robbo back and maybe try to pick up another Wilkie from a state league. We should keep Carlisle too, obviously. He played underdone in the back half of this season.

I'm pretty happy for them to have one.

Look, GC effectively operates like a development club, training players up before releasing them back into the talent pool.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

It's all pretty basic - give Gold Coast priority or even normal first round picks.
Gold Coast picks the best apparent young talent in the land.
If that talent blossoms then in a few years they want out and other clubs are only too obliging.
So the problem is Gold Coast using low picks on young talent.

Now if instead you gave Gold Coast some low draft picks but which they must trade then they may not get full value but they would get quality mature players for those picks.
Gold Coast assembles and keeps a quality list.
Then they need to get an good AFL coach, not a leftover.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

They need to do what the Sydney Swans did in the mid-nineties.
Get a proven experienced coach - Ross Lyon fits the bill perfectly.
And then poach experience with $$$ - players who have played a decade or more, but are proven performers. Burgoyne is a good start. Ryder could be another. Maybe Nathan Brown too.
They need to swap their first pick, or their second pick and shop it around.

Weren’t our scores really close in both games this year ? And wouldn’t that suggest we are just about as much a basket case as them?
