Bruce is also a heart and soul player the other players love, forcing a player like Bruce out can destabilize a playing group.

The solution is to remove both St Kilda and Gold Coast from the competition

The next question is which side to follow in the AFL

There are those you would never follow so it is out of the rest

In fact, given where the AFL is at maybe suburban footy beckons
My brother in law suggests Liverpool FC but then he was born in Liverpool U.K.

Even a story on 7 news !
I saw the news report and Josh looked absolutely gutted.

He loves the Saints fans and he loves his team mates. He has developed into a great role model and our young players stand tall around Josh Bruce. He has done whatever has been asked of him since coming to our club including roles he probably didn't prefer to play.

He's played injured for this club and bled and broken bones for this club. Even if we were in full rebuild mode, we still need leaders who are strong and capable and unless we get a power forward who is as durable as Bruce I think the club is making a mistake.

Just ridiculous if true

Next year we needed Josh Bruce more than ever

2009 was a horror off season

This off season will be just as detrimental

St Kilda deserve what they get

Emotionally we don't want to lose Bruce, but what's he worth?

Would we let him go to Footscray for their 1st draft pick?

Don't think they're in the habit of giving away their first rounders. Obviously we'll take that if it was on offer but I don't think that's what they're offering.

It's probably more a case of Lethlean needing a second round pick to get a few other deals over the line. Doesn't matter if he has to sacrifice heart and soul players in the meantime. That's the collateral damage he's willing to take so that he can cover himself in glory after landing Tomlinson

An issue is what these reports are doing to morale - and how many other players with ability will look for the exit because they have lost confidence in the Club and its direction

You do not move on players who have shown they can compete at the level - unless you have an alternative who is BETTER

Do we have players BETTER than Carlisle, Bruce and Steven to take their places?

They definitely are not on our current List that is for sure

And what message does it send to Hill or anyone else we may be interested in?

Why come to St Kilda?

Would be crazy to lose him.
Cult hero to young fans.
My kids idolise him and more likely to follow wherever he plays.
With King an unknown, McCartin finished and Membrey undersized, would be a bizarre decision.
Can’t be right.

If this is true then the club is really f***ed.

He may not be worth a first-rounder but he's definitely worth more to us than pick 30 or whatever.

Bruce, Membrey and King would be an exciting three-pronged attack and these guys would compliment each other. It would also give the Dogs a real leg up.

Who does the club propose replace Bruce because it would really mess us up?

I can see Carslie being traded but this is just lunacy.

Josh Bruce to remain at St. Kilda

Post: # 1820770Post the dome »

I don't believe Bruce can be so easily replaced so better to keep Bruce, I think he still has some improvement left.
I like Members & Bruchie up forward,
I believe they are both improving with maturity.

Some people at the club have nfi. Finnis still thinks Cho was a good coach

Perhaps they genuinely believe that it was only the players fault that we only won 4 matches in 2018

If Gubby lands some A grade mids then perhaps they're doing what's best for the club in the long term. I have faith in our current recruiters and in Brett Ratten as head coach. I think the Lethlean's and Gallagher's and Finnis's should stand aside and let the footy people do their job

Well, they did say some of the changes wouldn't necessarily be popular...so this is a solid start. :(

Bruce is one of the hardest working key forwards in the game and NEVER gets outmarked. At 197cm and 100kg he has great endurance and hits every contest at maximum impact. Where do you find another like him? If he had decent delivery he would kick 50 each year. The problem is not him, but those who fail in delivering the ball to him. It would be madness to trade him out.

Agree, if you trade Bruce, Carslile & Steven you are confirming to the players you are rebuilding and unlikely to attract or retain talent.

We had to offer 3 years to a one dimensional Melbourne fringe player to secure him last season, that’s about our level if we trade out our decent senior players.

This is just sheer stupidity. Is there an AFL agenda to wreck this club? I’m starting to wonder about why Lethlean is really at St Kilda.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Why don't we trade out all of em and bring in a clapped out Carlton coach. Might as well change our strip while we're at it and rename ourselves for some other suburb.

I agree. Some pretty overly sentimental responses. Granted, he has come off having a good season, but he’s by no means a match-winner. Anyway, it hasn’t been revealed what the club is looking to trade him for. Let’s wait and see what is potentially lined up in this.

The Richardson rebuild has been a bust, I’m glad the club seems to be proactive and innovative to take some risks in the trade period. They’re not going to improve the list by sitting on their hands and counting chickens.

Fancy considering trading out Bruce whilst simultaneously retaining the absolutely sh1tful ball butchering non-leader fvcktards that are the likes of Ross, Newnes and Dunstan. If those 3 complete frauds could even competently kick a ball - without pressure - to Bruce’s advantage - he’s be an untouchable.

What hope have we got when you consider putting Bruce up for trade when he and Membery form a formidable forward line with King to join them next year.
Doubt if McCartin will return so theirs another forward gone
I really see no sense in this at all.

Without having announced who our new coach is how can Zig and Zag make these announcements.
I seriously do think the boys club and AFL are on a mission,
Yes some of these decisions will upset supporters more importantly hurt out MEMBERSHIP numbers.
