I’m hoping we are expecting to get b king if we are talking of trading Carlisle - was obviously not 100% this year but his lack of intensity can be difficult for fans to watch

People are confusing potential with actual talent. You don’t trade out actual talent just for potential... we’ve got plenty of potential players

Bad strategy
you have to remember he has had an injury interrupted year...but since his return in the later half of the season, when the fire has been the hottest, some games being more 'intense' than others, he has been a bit of a gem.

Go you good things....!!!

I’d prefer he has a crack all the time

Effort is a non negotiable, can’t pick and choose... that’s a sign of character

He’s the sort of player that’d let you down in a big game due to his attitude being less than average

I was disgusted by his last game

To be fair, the way their midfield was unopposed would have made Bruce Doull crack the sads as a defender on Saturday.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Maybe that explains his CBF attitude over the last month perhaps they’ve told him he is on the market.

He's had the perceived 'CBF' attitude' since he was at Essendon.

It's a perception.

Having said that, if we want Ryder, B King and Tomlinson, WTF are we going to do with Carlisle and Bruce?

With the attitude he showed in the last few games, I have gone from no way would you trade him to I want him out. It's a really bad culture to have all these young kids developing in.

Cut the cord. I hope we get something in return.

Talented player ... far too talented to play loose man in defence ... but I question his attitude.

I think Ratts has tried to mix it up a bit. Get him to swing forward when Bruce is being blanketed. Or ruck him.

Reading between the lines, he’s not happy about being asked to play a different role.

I’m not certain of that, but if he won’t or can’t play for the coach, I’m not surprised he’s being considered for trade.

Probably could have called off the original trade when that picture surfaced.
I think the no dickheads policy should be invoked!

Absolute nothing article.
Must keep him. I feel if we become a contender.
He will be the keystone of our defence, and back to AA standard.
He wants success, and that's what it's about.
Players of Carlisle's size and ability don't grow on trees.

I thought this at the time, but when he finally started playing, he was very very good. I just don't know if you can rely on these types.

There is no problem with Bruce

Good player, had a good season, has a massive crack, whether he’s playing well or not.

Ryder is 32yo htf does he enter into our plans, he is a terrible forward, and we already have a gun ruckman

It may well be a culture thing - good a mark as Jake is perhaps he is not good for a positive culture in a side where the emerging stars are young and impressionable. And rebounding is not his thing either, is it?

We have 2 CHB's. Carlisle and Battle. Neither look comfortable at FB.

While Battle can play in the forward line he looks really good at CHB.

So we can use Carlisle to get what we need. Hope that is BKing and not a player like Jones who is not a good kick and we have ample poor kicks already.

Bruce to Dogs? Great move for them. Bad move for us.

Just watched the replay. The laziest effort Ive ever seen in an AFL game. Just barely ticked over. Get him out ASAP. He could not give a s***. Playing for his contract only.

Yep,didn't see much of Saturday on WatchAFL, but I did see him in the last quarter, extending his left arm, in a mock gesture, an illusion of effort, once a Sydney forward was cornered and had already swung around in another direction, nicely crossing it to a Sydney forward who was centered. It showed me that he knows a trick or two about appearing to make an effort.

That said, he is so skilled, great hands and seems to be just standing in the hole so often to intercept.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

I know he's had back surgery, but I think he drinks his own bathwater and believes he is The Rock of the backline.
We need guys who want to put in a big effort every game, not just 3 games out of 10.
Letting SInclair try to mark, staying out of it, resulting in a Swans goal, is unacceptable.
He comes across as one dimensional to me too - he is a brilliant intercept mark and has been great at times this year. But he looks lost going forward and seems to be all about himself. I think he can sort of get in the way of a strong team defence like we had earlier in the year without him.

He just wants to zone off and take uncontested intercept marks, like McGovern.

But gets burned by his opponent, but unlike Gov, he can’t defend one on one.

The article also includes that St Kilda would need to trade in a replacement

So you put Carlisle on the table on the basis you can replace him?

What therefore are the considerations that deliver a better player than Carlisle?

That we trade out Carlisle and trade in someone better?

Fantasy land

Remember the days when the opposition would have their rucks forward exposing our lack of defensive height - and how many goals they kicked?

Hence Carlisle and Brown were recruited

Battle is 193cm - so who does he take?

Riewoldt or Lynch?

Kennedy or Darling?

Then you get to Brisbane!!

And others who have 2 dominant key forwards - not to mention their rucks going forward

"Carlisle's manager Anthony McConville told The Age he will meet St Kilda's general manager of football Simon Lethlean and list manager James Gallagher this week to discuss Carlisle's future........
But sources familiar with Carlilse's contract talks have told The Age that both the Saints and Carlisle will consider offers from other clubs if and when they are forthcoming.........
But both parties believe that now is the time to part ways if they can find an appropriate suitor."

So it looks like McConville is looking for bigger money than St Kilda is willing to offer.
The problem for St Kilda is who would want Carlisle.
His poor attitude has been obvious to all who watch the game.
He would like to be in a better team but they are unlikely to come knocking.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Can we pay some of his contract with the new club? I believe we have cap space and I'm more concerned with what players or picks we get in return.

BM

Could you list the players on our List who have not at some stage been caught short - and because they are going at 100% efficiency are not criticised in your contributions?

I can recall Riewoldt often being out marked in a contest because he was out positioned - so weak overhead because he was out marked

Lockett had “off” days

I would suggest that your marking of players is based on fantasy - not reality
