Re: Changes v Demons
Out: Kent (managed) , McKenzie (concussion) , Patton (stiff and maybe not)
In: Steven, Geary, Hind
Melbourne can be exposed by pace and run, all three ins provide that.
Patton very stiff and safe if Steven isn't picked.

Re: Changes v Demons
McKenzie might be injured. Kent looks the most vulnerable. Parker hasn't won many possessions (but lots of 'forward pressure acts', apparently). Clark hasn't quite settled in.
They're the only possible droppings, I'd think.
Paton played a great second half.

I don’t think we’ll see Battle go forward permanently again. The club value him, but that forward line is just waiting for King to come in. You can’t really play Bruce, Membrey, King and Battle.Jacks Back wrote: ↑Mon 15 Apr 2019 11:50pm Out: Kent, Patton

Unless there’s a trade or massive injury, I think Battle will be a backman going forward

I agree but it wouldn’t surprise me if he turns into something of a swing man from time to time. Might float down in a game where say Bruce is well held to mix it upThe_President wrote: ↑Tue 16 Apr 2019 6:13amI don’t think we’ll see Battle go forward permanently again. Re: Changes v Demons
In: Geary, Steven, Hind.
Out: DMac (inj) Parker (inj), Kent.
I would play a second ruckman (Longer) too, but I can't see the selection committee agreeing.
I think with the ongoing health concerns with Dylan, along with the imminent retirement of N Brown, Big Jake's back operation and Logan Austin's shoulder (?) injury, Battle will play down back for the forseeable future. We are certainly pretty skinny down back now.
Mad Max will probably inherit the role we had earmarked for Paddy if he doesn't come good.

Agreed - and better a backman going forward than a forward going backward!The_President wrote: ↑Tue 16 Apr 2019 6:13amI don’t think we’ll see Battle go forward permanently again. Re: Changes v Demons
I wonder if Dunstan will come back in to try and negate their mids. I'm ambivalent - suspect he needs a confidence boost by being given more responsibility/recognition. On the other hand feel like hunter (who'd prob make way) is really learning a lot on the job. Got thrown around a lot last week but - like others (Inc Marshall at the start) got straight back up and on with the job.

Re: Changes v Demons
Can't see the need for a lot of changes, even though Hind and Dunstan tore it up on the weekend. However, barely saw Clark, seems an obvious out for Steven if he is ready (our midfield is so one paced without him). Dunstan would be great in a shut down role, but I don't think we need a defensive mindset against the Dees. Dmac looked shaky (as he has all season so far) and looks like he could do with a re-set for Geary.
Out: Clark, Dmac.
In: Steven (or if not available, Hind), Geary.

Re: Changes v Demons
Hard to change a winning team but gears and stuvo will play if fit. So that means ar least two leave. Dmac concussion is a two weeks rest automatically I thought so gears comes in for him. Hunter or Sinclair for stuvo. I'd give Sinclair a break as he seems a little off this year and killing it at VFL will boost his confidence.
I'd also drop Paton for hind. Nothing wrong with Paton but we needs speed and hind has it in spades apparently.

Re: Changes v Demons
I think Dmac was lucky to keep his spot against the hawks, but played with effort like his career was on the line. Stepped up with Geary absent. Deserves his spot this week but may miss with the concussion hanging over him.
Young, Hind, White all pushing for selection. A fit Steven is first picked every week.
I'd still have Pierce over Longer until he can prove match fitness in the VFL.
No more than 2 unforced omissions after a win.
Out: McKenzie, Kent
In: Geary, Pierce
Steven if fit comes in for ???. Hard to pick a midfielder that should be dropped. Possibly Paton could make way.
Parker next game will be telling if he needs a stint in the VFL for a few weeks.

I don't know where Pierce was, but he didn't play for Sandy on the weekend . Injured? I don't know but I doubt he will be an in this week.

Re: Changes v Demons
Mackenzie injured so Geary straight back. If Parker fails fitness test Hind in. They won't change a winning team who all tried their darndest. Big assumption is JS needs more time to recover.

Re: Changes v Demons
Marshall has cemented as our premier ruck.
So the "chop out" needs to be selected on the basis of what he brings to performance over and above a 20% "chop out" in the ruck.
Neither Longer nor Pierce bring the necessary.
My view is that we compromise until Carlisle is fit - having in mind Carlisle's efforts in the centre square v Melbourne last season.
IF Marshall is not fit, we have a problem confirmed by what Marshall is adding to team performance with his contributions.

Not sure the Dees will play both rucks this weekend. Would make then too slow,To the top wrote: ↑Tue 16 Apr 2019 6:31pm Marshall has cemented as our premier ruck.

Re: Changes v Demons
Kent is probably on his last chance this weekend and he’s fortunate it’s against his old mob. He can be very clean with his execution however it’s been few and far between. In the past two weeks he’s drifted out of the game for extended periods and fumbled at critical moments.
Geary is a certain return as is Stuv if given the all clear. Paton and McKenzie will most likely be the omissions.
Hind would be a very useful addition on the wide expanses of the ‘G but I can’t see many changes to a winning combination. If Parker’s ankle doesn’t come up then Hind might get that chance.
