Why would anyone associated or part of the St Kilda FC commit millions and millions of dollars to rebuilding a stadium when the AFL, who control and fixture the games, have said they don’t want and have no need for a 3rd Melbourne ground?

This article is from last year, so it’s pretty clear they would not fixture anything even if this ground existed.

think you got the sides very confused as to the memes...
There is one very simple question that I would pose to you and Lachlan
if we cant make a profit at docklands with poor crowds - how will increasing the capacity help us?
and as Shane says Lachlan is just spitting into the wind - 10 years away is a Spaceman's wormhole to no where

I think you misread my post, I was saying I was asking a question, not using memes or photoshop, just asking the question.

The idea would be to increase crowds regardless of where the game is being played, that should be the focus of the club. I don't think there is any proposal to increase the capacity at Marvel, the money for the redevelopment is for the surrounds and infrastructure as far as i am aware.

Nah read the post amusing name
And I didn't use memes...
I assume that they want to increase the size of mcg and made the point that we can't make a profit at the dome with many of the crowds we draw
For reference I would point you towards rogerfox he has done many posts on our crowd drawing ability in a historical context and concludes we are not one of the power clubs supporter wise

I agree we are not a power club, we have scope to improve our supporter base and crowds though and I think we should not be at the bottom of the crowd averages for Victorian clubs. I don't see how moving back to Junction Oval would address our issues with crowds though? especially when all indications from the controlling body are that they have no interest in fixturing games anywhere in Melbourne apart from the MCG and Marvel?

Hi Doc, no wonder you've lost the can-do-adventurous-no-challenge-too-great attitude of your youth. It seems that in your wild younger days you had an attack of the 'Paddy McCartins'... multiple concussions! I didn't realize. :(

Maybe you should see a................. doctor?

 They had to hurt!

Anyways Doc, back to 'the' meme... life, death, the universe, the alternative solution to the JO that will solve...
our $10 million debt is growing, whilst enemy clubs clear their $10 million debts. (Including one club, with no supporters, and also no pokie bandits. ) Our beloved club is going backwards.

Hi 'a-game'. Firstly, I reckon that's a great nic, but if you disagree please say so. :) Secondly, I had to leave in just one meme - the good Doctor loves that one. :)

The JO is available. Just takes will power on our behalf. And vision.

The first step is to return.
Then to play the lady's team there, and the intra-club.
Then aim for a pre-season game. Long term goal... boutique home games against low-drawing teams. (If/when Tassie, the NT or Cantberra get expansion sides, then that'd be three more low-drawing teams.)

Why the JO? When you have some free time, 'why' is to be found throughout this legendary thread. ShaneG has added the genesis of other reasons 'why'... all to do with 'location', 'location', 'location'.

I'll give you another one to start with also. When, earlier this decade we were banished to the irrelevance of out Seafolly (half way to Cantberra), and bouncing around the wrong end of the ladder, we couldn't land a major sponsor. Embarrassing, disheartening, and financially crippling. (See our debt as a result.)

Then came 'the' JO announcement news! <celebratory fireworks going off emoticon> Suddenly, unsolicited calls starting coming into our club... from would-be sponsors.

Clearly... big business knows that the JO is the GO.

Underground stadium in St Kilda?

Dr. Spaceman, you really have an idea there. You know your space, and you are not spacing out here.

I've never thought about an underground stadium, but why not? Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Yokohama have an LPG storage facility that is entirely underground 62 m deep and 70 across.
Think of it. The "Underground Junction".
Games at the UJO will really increase our exposure. Think of all the backpacker joints in St Kilda. Leaflets dropped in their foyers!

Why would I do that?

The only discussion was about how good the cricket ground is and the missed opportunity for the Saints to move to the JO instead of Seaford (which I happen to agree with)

Didn't hear Mighty Roo talk about getting back to the JO in the future, building a boutique stadium on land we don't have access to, playing games that the AFL won't schedule etc, etc

Anyway, keep drinking Dave's bong water Image

Hi Jack.

They represent Mr Grambeau and Linton (who I, for no particular reason, refer to as Captain Marvel)

Another magnificent performance by the Vics in the Sheffield Shield Final at the Junction Oval, marred only by a pitch invasion by a couple of knuckleheads who seemed to have no comprehension of reality.

Think your hose is attached to Dave's rear end so don't think the ground will be fit for play any time soon.
