I could be wrong but I think that is actually why we picked him at no . 7 in the draft to be a quality midfielder . I really don't see why this is a revelation

Of course we picked him to hopefully become a mid but its genuinely exciting to see a raw kid at 19 potentially becoming a gun. We have been crying out for a midfield type like Hunter for years. I watched him in the intra club today and he is looking very good.

I was equally excited watching Parker live for the first time.

Is Hunter Clarke set to improve after his first season..?

It is a great question. I’m going to say yes.

Crying out Ted is an understatement .Why we have recruited so many slow inside mids with average to even poor skills amazes me , but I do agree that if Hunter lives up to his potential he can be a real game changer.I'm hopeful that it will happen but we really need the likes of Acres & Coffield etc to go to another level & the new mature age recruits to have an impact for us even be competitive this year IMO

Clark is something special but I think Kent & Parker will be handy thru the middle also.

I know there was some humour in the commentary about the wind but in all seriousness, was it an issue. I certainly saw the ball hold up quite a bit. Can anyone who attended elaborate. I wasn't alarmed by the skill level but it wasnt pretty at times. There were some good marks taken but also some fumbles and misreading of flight.

Good question. Anybody who was there care to blow the lid off the wind conditions?

The Coff seems to have come along nicely also and will work well with Gears & Robbo attacking out of Dee-fence

There was wind, but not enough to really affect skills.

Pulled the ball up when kicking into it, but the trees didn't appear to be bending much with the wind.

Bookmark him, just like we bookmarked Dunstan, Billings, Sinclair and Acres?

I hope the OP is right, but I think we’ve been guilty of getting overly excited by our young recruits a tad early into their careers.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

I hear what you are saying & I'm the biggest skeptic when it comes to patting blokes on the back & blowing wind up their ar--- but I really have a good feeling about this bloke I think he is going to be a gun . I have been wrong before just ask my wife

I was at the Intra club game and didn't notice the wind. Not saying there wasn't any, it just wasn't windy. Clarke played well from what I saw but overall it was a scrappy game with only a few good moments. A piece of good play was usually followed by a bad or average one. IE great mark poor kick.
Parker was the most noticeable for the right reasons. He wants game time asap and will strive to get it

Kicks were noticeably carrying significantly further to one end and pulling up towards the other. Checked the trees as well and noted no wild movement, but was definitely strong enough to have a visible impact on kicks.....

On the broadcast they talked about a wind tunnel since the new building was erected. Not sure which way the wind tunnel faced though.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

"another genuine mid"

- would imply we have one to begin with.

simply no. I don't see anybody being a new stand out mid. There will be improvers but these will be in any side. Still lacking A graders IMO TO MAKE A SERIOUS DIFFERENCE TO LADDER POSITIONING END OF 2019.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Didn't say standout....
Highlighting that Hunter is going to be a genuine mid for us going forward. We need a mid like him desperately.

It is not a revelation.

https://www.saints.com.au/news/2017-11- ... nter-clark
With St Kilda's first of two top 10 picks - for the first time since the Saints drafted Luke Ball and Xavier Clarke in 2001 - St Kilda added a star inside midfielder before selecting rebounding defender Nick Coffield a pick later.

and even his secondary school had him pegged as a mid...

We were delighted to learn that two of our students were among the talented, young hopefuls picked in last week’s NAB AFL Draft. Year 12 MacKillop student and Dandenong Stingrays midfielder, Hunter Clark was selected by St Kilda Club (Pick No.7)

Can Richo be in charge of a club who drafts a kid as a genuine mid and that kid develops into a quality A grade mid?

Time will tell
