Gilbert!
I can't see the point in persisting with Sam Gilbert in the Best 22. Surely White and now Coffield will prove to be better investments for long term returns.
Dont get me wrong he has served the club well but skill and poise must give way to athleticism. White and Coffield move pretty well too. Seeing Sam in the ruck makes me flinch. Moreso than Bruce even.

Re: Gilbert!
The sooner we can replace players that cannot kick the ball the sooner we get into the finals however the coach needs to actually get tough on those players.

Re: Gilbert!
I agree to a point but who do you replace them with.gilbo is passed his prime but he brings so much experience to the team which we will need this year. Especially with no roo or Joey or Dempster. Just going to have to suck it up this season

Re: Gilbert!
Gilbo, Wright, Stevens. Weller.
These four should only play in injury emergency situations.

Re: Gilbert!
Coffield. Do it now! Gilbo can provide leadership and experience at Sandy with our other kids.DJ Higgins wrote:I agree to a point but who do you replace them with.gilbo is passed his prime but he brings so much experience to the team which we will need this year. Re: Gilbert!
It's pretty funny that someone can spend 10 years in a full time professional Australian Rules Football environment and still have no right foot while their dominant side is 50/50 at best.
Gilbo nearly always has a red hot crack. Just get the ball out of his hands before he kicks it.

Re: Gilbert!
Agreed. You would take him to the trenches and he would rush the hill. But dont give him a gun.prwilkinson wrote:It's pretty funny that someone can spend 10 years in a full time professional Australian Rules Football environment and still have no right foot while their dominant side is 50/50 at best.

Bit harsh on Stevens IMO. His average games are still close to serviceable and he occasionally plays very good games.
If he could produce his best more consistently, I think he’d be a walk up start in the first 22

No need to stick a fork into him though.

Re: Gilbert!
Clearly, I've believed this for ten years. Wholeheartedly agree. Gilbert out for Bruce (on the JLT game lineup). I see no point in him playing. He had 1 great year in his whole career (the year he marked everything). He's not taken a mark in a decade; and is clearly replaced by Ro-Berton, try Battle, try Austin.
Wright - agree. f****** useless footballer.
Weller - willing to see them try anything to make him workable.
On Stevens, I disagree. Especially if they play the new kids, who are slighter, any big bodies mids will be worth their weight in gold over a long season.

Re: Gilbert!
I can't agree with this. Ross, Newnes, Webster, Savage, Carlisle, Brown, Geary, Armitage and Steven all could classify as experienced.DJ Higgins wrote:I agree to a point but who do you replace them with.gilbo is passed his prime but he brings so much experience to the team which we will need this year. If footy was just about big bodies then we should go down the gym and recruit a few hulks.groupie1 wrote:Clearly, I've believed this for ten years. Wholeheartedly agree. Big bodies aren't much good when you are a s*** kick and make poor decisions.
