Will Santa be coming with presents like Dusty, Kelly & Fyfe.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Financials released to media tomorrow
a small profit- compared to bombers
but better than Pies

email this afternoon
Through your support and the unwavering commitment of our members, we are pleased to announce an operating profit of $796,001.

The operating profit, which is calculated before grant funding revenue, depreciation, amortisation and interest, increased from $150,589 in 2016.

Attached is overview of St Kilda’s 2017 highlights which includes a record membership ship figure in excess of 42,000.

For the first time in many years, we were able to fill every sponsorship category and I would like to take the opportunity to thanks our co-principals: Dare Iced-Coffee & Pepper Money; Elite partners: AMC Commercial Cleaning, AV Jennings, Holman Industries, Jayco, LinenHouse, RSEA Safety and XBlades; Associate partners: H&M Tracey Group, the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation; and Official partners: Biersdorf, New Era, Sandhurst Club and VIRUS.

While there is no denying that this season we didn’t reach the heights we were striving for on the field, the improvement of so many young players gave us a glimpse of an exciting future.

That future also includes our return to RSEA Park (Moorabbin Reserve), our spiritual home, in the new year where a new state-of-the-art facility is currently under construction.

With a new match-return deal to be in place at Etihad Stadium and the introduction of the Southern Saints in the VFL Women’s Competition, we’re excited by the opportunity to build further momentum both on and off the field next year.

Thank you again for your ongoing support of the St Kilda Football Club and I look forward to seeing you at the football in 2018.

Also compare the exciting style of footy the Bummers played compared to the dour inconsistent footy we played in season 2017- crowds go where the action is and take their money with them. Our club needs a lot more than just a modest improvement in season 2018- we need a massive season/

The bombers make money off other clubs at docklands.
If you buy saints merchandise inside the ground they get a percentage .

$800k profit in a year. Good result. Don't compare to Essendon's result which includes lots one off major donations to get them out of the hole they are in ... wonder what their bottomline is without this extra ordinary revenue?

The new deal will be an improvement. That's obvious, as it could not be worse than the old one that's cost us at least $10 million. (What was out debt figure at the last AGM again...? ) However...

Will the new deal be good enough...?

Will the place be a fortress where visiting teams fear to venture...?

Will we be netting $825k from every home game like the Hillbillies do...?

I'm betting... no, and no... and, no.

Yes, a good result.

And that's almost as much as the Deliverance mob net from one home game at Hillbilly Stadium. (Average crowd 26,000 bumpkins.)

He was reluctant to go into specifics since negotiations are close to a conclusion but did reveal the Saints would be much better off.

"I don't think it would be speaking out of school to suggest that, in terms of like for like, in terms of match return, were we to have the same fixture next year as we had this year, with the same crowds, we're talking about a net return which is in multiple millions of dollars," Finnis said.

"It's very significant, and that for us is a game changer."

"We're very confident that (the deal) will be done early in the new year and well and truly before round one," he said.

The upcoming agreement will see St Kilda make a proportionally higher amount as crowd sizes increase.

he league is also working on contracts for St Kilda, Carlton and the Western Bulldogs and is hopeful of an announcement before Round 1.

The AFL bought Etihad Stadium 16 months ago, but clubs spent a fruitless season trying to secure more lucrative deals.

Clubs have reaped as much money from one-off games sold to Cairns and Alice Springs as their entire return from 10 Docklands games.

Clubs had to hand 85 per cent of ticket returns from reserved seats to the AFL.

But a change that effectively reverses that distribution in the clubs’ favour will reap $1 million more a season from gate receipts for some of them.

Some clubs previously had to write cheques to the AFL to cover the cost of playing at Etihad Stadium, even in the event of solid crowds.
I have heard that Essendon will NOT have such a sweetheart deal as they had previously, where they always had a fall back to get better than anyone else.
Essendon has brokered its own deals and chief executive Xavier Campbell said the club was in productive discussions with the AFL with the intention to get a deal done by Round
1.

Thanks for those postings SB. :)

A closer look just proves the point. We need our own boutique home ground.

Another year of us hemorrhaging.

That says it all.

saintbrat wrote:Clubs had to hand 85 per cent of ticket returns from reserved seats to the AFL.
I'm not a reserved seat ticket holder. However, I'd bet that a significant motivation for many who are, would be knowing that the $$$ spent is going to help their club.

Seems that's not the case...

That's nice. (And c/f with what we currently have, it's <swear filter>'g fan-bloody-tastic! (Sadly, that comparison is, relative... :( )

But Team Deliverance net $825K per home game. And as we all know, with only an average crowd of 26,000. (Oh, and they win nearly every single one of those games too. )

Even if this 'new deal' comes through, we're still spotting the Hillbillies millions and millions per year! (You don't see them selling off home games to Humpty Doo or Birdsville.) :(
