Re: Can the integrity of our B&F voting system be questioned
It matters little.
The clubs just do what they do, and in the end,
the votes are given in a subjective manner, by certain coaching personnel,
who have the benefit of knowing the game plan, tactics, strategy,
and importantly, what role each player has been given.
They're insiders.
The fans have access to raw data- stats- without enough knowledge of the inner workings.
We make judgement calls based on our own prejudices and bias,
e.g. myself, I think Ross isn't precise enough with his kicks, he seems to me to make poor decisions or execute poorly;
therefore I mark him very harshly- although he gets huge numbers, the quality ain't there.
The ITKs at the club make their assessments,
us fans make assessments.
It's like being a movie critic. Everyone sees something different, each person has an opinion.

A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

There’s no integrity in anything in the AFL. Remember, Barry Hall got to play in the 05 GF

Club B&F's have always been a bit "contrived".
When Keith Greig surprisingly won his first Brownlow back in the 70s he supposedly finished 6th in North's B&F so they rejigged the figures to avoid embarassment.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Any really, is the integrity of the system regarded highly, poorly, is there past evidence of irregularities etc. Do Mark Williams assertions hold any validity with respect to how the Saints go about it?ausfatcat wrote:Cairnsman wrote:Mark Williams on SEN has questioned the integrity of clubland B&F voting systems.

Re: Can the integrity of our B&F voting system be questioned
All stems from Gazza winning the GC award.
They tweaked the results knowing he was getting traded - it was more important that they improved their trade value than keep integrity in their B&F.
As far as the Saints are concerned, I cant think of too many shocking results in our B&F in recent years that would raise suspicion??

Re: Can the integrity of our B&F voting system be questioned
Im not sure about integrity, but questions would have been raised if Armitage had polled well this year, but he didn't so all good.
One ardent poster here was adamant that one particular Ruckman would poll well, he didn't, so that also bodes well
The issue starts back further with team selection. Vfl good form doesn't get rewarded. Afl bad form doesn't indicate relegation.
Team kpi''s team "roles" & team "structure" never get explained
So us lesser mortals stay confused

Re: Can the integrity of our B&F voting system be questioned
There was a year when Milne kicked 50 goals and finished 11th in the B&F. Suggestion was that he had a clause in his contract that promised a bonus if he finished top 10. All rumour and speculation of course.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.
