Kate Macqueen might have only just stepped foot in the club, but she has red, white and black blood running through her veins.
Her uncle, Jim Guyatt, played 113 games for St Kilda during the late 1950s and early 1960s before a career-ending knee injury cut him down in his prime at just 24, just like John Coleman.

Alison Brown’s ninth ever football game was the first round of AFLW in front of 25,000 people.
“I always used to play footy with the boys at lunch time, but Dad never let me play for a team as a little girl,” Brown said of her earliest football memories.

Brown played all seven of Carlton’s AFLW games before being delisted at the end of the season. St Kilda Assistant Coach Peta Searle said the Southern Saints jumped at the chance to get Brown on the list.
“Alison is a highly talented young footballer with an enormous capacity to further develop,” Searle said.
“We were excited to offer her a spot on our list and were elated when she chose to accept.
“I believe it’s a really positive reflection of the program we’re establishing.”
As the third recruit to the freshly formed Southern Saints, Brown will look to elevate her physical skills as well as enhance her leadership capacity as part of the new group.

“I’ve always barracked for St Kilda and it’s a new club, so I think it will be great to play here. I can’t wait to see what we can do next year.”

Interesting that the St Kilda Sharks women's Football Club has 'decided' not to compete in the VFLW next year. Therefore there will not be a clash of 2 clubs with the same colours and similar names. I suspect they were subject to some pressure to clear the way for our team. Nice to have the AFL behind us but feel sorry for the Sharks. They will continue in lower grades.
Two lifelong St Kilda supporters are the latest players to sign with the Southern Saints ahead of their first season in the VFLW competition.
After narrowly missing out on being drafted last month, Sandringham Dragons pair, Isabel Quintal and Georgia Ricardo, put pen to paper on Tuesday, becoming the fourth and fifth players to commit to the Saints for 2018.
“I barrack for St Kilda so it was a no-brainer for me," Quintal told saints.com.au after signing with the club on Tuesday.
"The club has always been involved in my life; my Dad and I bond over St Kilda like no tomorrow."
Ricardo was born into a St Kilda family and has experienced all the ups and downs associated with following the red, white and black.
She was there in 2009 and again in 2010. And now she is one step closer to playing for her beloved Saints at the highest level
