A few of us agree with you. Meatball is a better player and I reckon Meatball has more upside
I agree, but where can he fit in the team?

Billings looks set to be playing as mainly as small forward now.
Gresh is better with more upside.
Sincs is better.

We need some A grade mids and I doubt that Meatball can ever been that. So he is competing with Steven, Armo Ross, Dunstan, Acres, Stevens...and hopefully a gun from outside the club and 1 or 2 early mid draft pics. Freeman also will also hopefully break into the seniors in 2018.

Billings is a bit more than a small forward. He's a mid size hit up that can take a contested mark.
Much less flashy than a typical small forward as he does not rely on the fall of the ball to get his looks.

Minchington has much more upside. Bigger body, probably just as quick...can read it well and kick ok.

Lonie had more chances this year than anyone.

For me personally, I think Lonie was simply not physically ready this year.
A combination of not being strong enough and being overawed.

Players simply can't demonstrate good skills at one level and crap skills at another like that without something being off. It seems that Jack is lacking some maturity but I take some confidence from the fact that he's doing everything right at the VFL.

From where I stand, a one year contract is about right.

One year is all he is worth. If he can get better, he might get another contract.
Mr Shakey (Bernie to his mates) appears to have seen a few Zebs games and comments that the little guy
gets a lot but does nothing with it.
Last thing we need, is another wasteful player.

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Was it your signature a little while back that read something like "that Lonie kid can play a bit"?

Indeed it was. For close to two years.

In case you didn't notice I am well and truly off the bandwagon.

I just do not think he can cut it at senior level. Not strong enough. Cant be a pressure forward if you cant stick a tackle and her just misses too many.

I also think that a one year deal is clogging the list with inadequate fringe that potentially limit some other players getting looks.

Too many on here overrate our list. We need to be more cut throat.

I agree, I really don't see the point. A one year contract seems to be a "you've got one last chance to improve and show us what you've got" scenario, and he is only 21, but would have thought that was the point of this year. I want to like him, and he does put in effort, but jut not up to it.

It is about right for mine. He has had a fair chance to turn the few tricks and good football brain he has into a positive for the club but not much else has developed. His chances will come at Sandy next year unless we have more injury concerns. If he gets a 2 or 3 year gig elsewhere good luck to him.

I thought he may have been cut and then re-rookied if he couldn't be traded out.

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.
