Key position utility and would cost barely a packet of chips, could even rookie list him
We are probably better with a packet of chips
Fair enough

Am I the only one who thinks we should seriously look at Steven Motlop from the Cats?
He seems out of favour, they’ve previously tried to trade him but no one was interested in his oversized contract.
Don’t believe anything the Cats are saying about Ablett, they are 100% going to get him & it’ll likely to be a second rounder (which they would likely get as compo for both Menzel and Motlop)
Motlop has been inconsistent, like most players. But he also has the two tools we need, outside pace & finishing.
If we could land him as a FA on a contract of $400-$500k or in a trade with the Cats for a second rounder (we have previously used second rounders on Freeman & Steele) I think it would be a massive steal.

Would love seeing him line up on the wing and break some lines for us.

actually, I haven't thought of him for that before. I'd give him a shot. But only if the pay was right.

I would easily take Motlop in our side as a HF before any of the following: Weller, Lonie, Minchington, Wright.

Motlop is flakey and inconsistent but when he's on he is A grade material. Is he worth that risk?

We do have the money for a Motlop in our cap and heaps more.

I would take Motlop.
Would cost us nothing draft wise.

Remember when everyone was heaping it on Lewis Jetta for being a dud?
He forced the Eagles in to the finals single handedly last week.

I'm for it as well. Gives us what we need and is an upgrade on what we've got at the moment. We can get him without needing to trade. He would improve our list and side.

I think if we play our cards right we could really play lol some rabbits out of the closet.
We need to cash in on free agency. Rockcy, trengrove, motlop and menzel all add value to our
Current team, all cost nothing we have cash let's spend it.....
Let's shake the trees and see what falls Tippett and floret for a first rounder ask about Ali Ali as well
Collingwood have a heap of midfielders ask the question.
Balic wants to return to Vic and wil be cheap.
Stringer and lever are gettable we must be aggressive this year just do it
If we can add 2 established midfielders with run and skill a backman in trengrove, lever or Ali Ali, a couple
And 1 X factor in stringer motlop or menzel and were away

Be the best you can ... If not have fun trying....

No way I'd take Motlop...

Inconsistent player with great skills that melts under pressure!!!

Seriously his first 3 kicks last night picked out the only Richmond players they had in defence
How can ppl be thinking 'yeah We need more of that'?

Can anyone tell me what is the story with Alir Alir?
Looked a million bucks against us a couple of years ago.
Swans lost Melican pre game and were a tall short down back but he still did not get a look in
Seems to have his papers stamped to me..

Is he worth getting?
A little more attacking than Brown (and younger... and we need a back-up down there anyway )

So he plays Saints Footy then?

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Worth investigating imo.

I assume the Swans will want to keep him because Grundy is nearing the end but who knows.

Good question. Why have the Swans gone dark on Alir Alir?

You may remember there were some off-field issues earlier in the year but I don't think it's that: rather that Melican has gone past him. His reserves form has been v good though and other clubs are interested so, like almost every player mentioned, maybe not that left field but a good idea nonetheless.
Balic I can't have. He's been awful in his few games for the Dockers.
Any of the following Swans would also improve us:
Dawson
Foote
Robinson

He played a pretty nice game against us in the pre-season, can't break into the port side, good size, can play.
Contracted at least until the end of 2019.
Why the hell would PA trade him out?
He is only 20 years old.

You cant just name random players.

They'd trade him out for the same reason that more contracted players will be traded out than uncontracted every trade period.
That is either they think they can get a player or a pick that they want more or the player himself for whatever reason, including more money elsewhere, wants to go and the club doesn't want players on their list who are disaffected.

I can and I will name random players god dammit, that's what the thread " left field pickups" is all about.

When I posted bonners name a month ago he hadn't played a game for the year so he could potentially be looking for opportunity, I have no idea what his contract situation is... thanks for bumping my post from 5 weeks ago though.

People may also remember he was v good against us in the preseason game this year, where he showed a ton of dash. Hopefully we've been in his ear for months but I doubt it.

Ok ok. Fair shake of the sauce bottle.

What about Brayden Fiorini. Surely he is looking to escape the rabble that is the Gold Coast?

Fiorini can play, picked up a Brownlow vote in his second game last year...

I think we really need to find another key defender or two, brown needs to squeezed out of the side ASAP and Goddard is a long shot right now. Maybe we can provide coin and more opportunity to a fringe type like Jack Leslie or Kyle Hartigan... or look left field like how liam jones has back.
