Farewell Lonie

Post: # 1695961Post saintspremiers »

What an absolute spud of a player. Useless yet again. Not that I'm surprised.

Should be delisted tomorrow, but instead will be contracted until 2019.

Wow, this is very negative.

Sure, he hasn't had a great season and has been on the fringe the whole time. But to bag him out like this, right at the end of the season is very harsh.

Yes
Four times if he was able to pick the loose ball up he could of had a running shot at goal .
Instead he fumbled. Not good enough in the big league.

didn't have a good game, but did lay our second highest number of tackles. pity a few others didn't play with the same agression. hardly worth calling him a spud. he is a one of ours afterall.

v

No more than he deserves.
Still not his fault the coaches keep picking him.

Not an AFL player imho.

So we just keep on playing sub standard players and keep our mouths closed.
Crap.

I agree Lonie should go, closely followed by Weller. Both have had more than a fair shot at it.

I am sure they did their best but there is no room for sentiment.

He would have iced those at training and in the VFL.
If he can't perform at AFL level, given his repeated opportunities, he is sadly missing something and is never going to be an AFL player.

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

At best he's a Craig Devonport-type, only Devonport kicked goals.

Perhaps we can trade him to Carlton for a first round pick.

He really shouldn't have been picked. we went in with one too may small forwards and didn't replace any height in the back line where White should have replaced Gilbert. Instead, Geary goes down and Mav has to try and play back as White is not playing. This is our match committee for you.

The sooner the dead wood like Lonie and Mav plus Wright, et al, get the boot the better.

Every footy coach in the damn world knows that you give players several chances and "turn the list over" by letting some go.
Unless you're happy for the club to keep playing guys who try hard.
You want more wooden spoons?

Well he's a small forward who is slow, applies bugger-all pressure, and can't kick goals. Sad, but it's a tough game.

No, no, I don't want wooden spoons. I was just saying it is harsh to single players out like this. Lonie has been a whipping boy on this forum all season and in the last game of the season it seemed as though posters on here are taking their frustrations out on him

It will be interesting over the next couple of months to see which players the Saints List Managers decide are baked potatoes.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

To be fair, if he had been ten metres out, rather than 20, his screw kick would have made it. I also believe that some Tiger jumpers will need ironing after his tackles.

To be fair, it would've won Australia's Funniest Home Videos had the show still been running.
