CH 7 reported tonight that Paddy was just tested again and would still not be playing due to concussion.

Only half heard the report but I thought they said something about the club is yet to confirm that he won't play again this year.
It's basically a whole year lost for Paddy

Cox's report is a waste of time producing and watching if not everyone is mentioned

Re: Cox's injury report
The situation with Paddy is becoming a real concern for all involved. There is obviously something medically, that is holding him back. That's a serious concern for him and his family. It also puts a lot of pressure on the medicos to make the right long term call for Paddy.

Well I guess to be fair the club will not actually know as he cannot play till he passes with flying colours.Enrico_Misso wrote:Only half heard the report but I thought they said something about the club is yet to confirm that he won't play again this year.
And unlike hammy's etc they most likely cannot predict.

Gee I think that's the standard line we use for him every year he's played so far. How many games has he played in 3 years?Devilhead wrote:Looks like Paddy will see out the season on the sidelines

Fact is concussions are now taken very, very seriously, and not just for Paddy. The report this week on the autopsied brains of 111 NFL players adds fuel to the fire. http://edition.cnn.com/2017/07/25/healt ... index.htmlJunction Oval wrote:The situation with Paddy is becoming a real concern for all involved. Clubs and the league worry not just about the health of their players, but the chances of future litigation.
I shudder to think how many matches Riewoldt would have missed over his career under the current paradigm. Back in the day he'd just wave the medics away and say, "I'm playing".
So they will be doing their due diligence on Paddy and hope he has some luck in the future.

Re: Cox's injury report
GOOD point Colleague. D'you remember that game against Richturd in 2003 (Burkies last game for us)? Roo was cleaned up by that turd Tim Fleming. Nick was "out for the count" and could hardly stand without assistance. He was taken directly to the rooms, where they put stitches into a gaping mouth wound. Roo came back in the second half, and ( if memory serves me correctly) kicked four goals! Fleming got a lengthy suspension.bigcarl wrote:Fact is concussions are now taken very, very seriously, and not just for Paddy. If that were to occur now, Roo would be out for the rest of the game. Fleming would be looking at six to eight weeks

Re: Cox's injury report
Sorry to say, but you're spot on, bigcarl. The threat of future litigation now hangs over all organisations in terms of their employees' health, including long term. The NFL report makes for chilling reading. I've no doubt we'll see more stories like this involving AFL players in the future.bigcarl wrote:Fact is concussions are now taken very, very seriously, and not just for Paddy. An interesting take on the issue is that of charges being laid against officials who fail to exercise a proper duty of care to those in their employ. Similar to what Worksafe does now. Charges are laid against those directly responsible for workplace safety breaches and injuries, with those further up the managerial change also being charged under the umbrella of vicarious liability. In what has become known as "Brodie's Law", managers face the same charges as direct perpetrators. Brodie Panlock was the young woman who leapt to her death from a car park adjacent to her workplace. She had been horrendously bullied by two workmates, resulting in her suicide. The owner of the business was also convicted and fined $250,000 even though he claims he never met her.
I imagine under Work Safety Laws, it won't be much of a stretch for sporting organisations to fall foul of the authorities in much the same way. In the end, the best thing for Paddy is to sit out the rest of the year, recover properly and work on his running, fitness and general health. He has the ability. He needs some luck, something that has historically been in short supply at the saints.
I think you're pretty tough, don't I?

Yeah, he's still training. Doing circle work and skill sessions but when the match simulation starts he's off doing sprint work and three quarter speed metres. He's just itching to come back. Happy as a lark he is ( in the circumstances )seano1 wrote:club said about 3-4 weeks ago that he wasn`t going to play for the rest of the year......as it didn`t want him hit again ,i think he is still training but will not be played

Jamie's injury reports are as credible as "Chemical Ali's" war updates were.

He speaks like AR, but it's only because he is obliged to speak that way.
It's the only way to get info across to members and he really can't do any better.
