Re: Daniel McKenzie
I'm a bit concerned about him.
Seems like he's got some really good attributes and is also a good young man, but he doesn't get enough of the footy and tends to butcher it when he has it. Being fast is not enough.
Definitely hope he can turn it around but he's going to have to work extremely hard to get more opportunities; competition for places will be very stiff in the coming years.
I genuinely hope he knuckles down, works on his flaws and learns to handle pressure. Both Sam Fisher and Jason Blake were examples of two players who struggled under pressure (especially with disposal) early in their careers and then gradually became a lot better. So it is possible.
May this be nothing more than a steep learning curve.

Re: Daniel McKenzie
Think a few are being unduly harsh on the boy.
He is exactly what we need, a big bodied fast mid. He'll come good for sure. His bone crashing mark in the last was terrific and his skills will settle when he acclimatises to the pace of the game

You can see he has talent. Needs a few games to adjust to the tempo.

Re: Daniel McKenzie
Great post. I didn't see the game but it's clear Ninthmond once again got ahead of themselves as only they can do.skeptic wrote:See I reckon ppl have a real blind spot with games like tonight...
DMac made some errors that really stood out but the 10 goal win really masked the fact that we were actually very wasteful across the board. The reason it doesn't stand out is because we rattled the tigers early and they were much much worse as a result and I think DMac played a role in that.
The kids a beast, he hits the packs hard, is great in the air and has a fantastic work rate.
His disposal is very hit and miss but I reckon he keeps his spot on that performance. He did better than Mav has in most games this season and he did a few things that the statisticians won't record. He just needs an extended run to find his mojo.
Sounds like it is prob the easiest game we will have for the season.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

IMO no change to a winning team that dominated other than injury and suspension.

It looks like most people agree with me that he just needs a decent run of games.
Do you remember how well Seb Ross was going when at the same stage?

It's actually a similar early trajectory.borderbarry wrote:It looks like most people agree with me that he just needs a decent run of games.

Both started quite well early and showed glimpses of greatness
Then they stagnate a bit despite showing a great training ethic and reasonable form in the 2s
Doubts are cast about a particular aspect of their game (Getting enough ball for Ross, Disposal for DMac)
Then... well we know what happens to Seb

Re: Daniel McKenzie
Will DMack stay in ahead of Acres? Did they take Acres off at Sandy at half time because he was in line for a call up? I'm puzzled by the management of Acres if he doesn't come back this week. Not good for either's continuity if they miss. DMack as the incumbent has the inside running.
