Ladder Watch Round 9
As mentioned previously, it doesn't matter what position we are after round 9 but it makes us feel better.
I'm only considering wins at this stage. As we are the first game tomorrow, we can look at it without worrying about the other games.
Any sort of win, gets us above Port and we would stay there for the week because they have a bye.
To get above West Coast we need
f > 1.13a +15.26
where f = for and a = against
If Sydney score 70 we need 95
If Sydney score 100 we need 129
To get above Geelong we need
f > 1.18a +48.30
where f = for and a = against
If Sydney score 70 we need 131
If Sydney score 100 we need 166
To get above GWS we need
f > 1.21a +68.62
where f = for and a = against
If Sydney score 70 we need 152
If Sydney score 100 we need 190
To get above Adelaide we need
f > 1.27a +115.30
where f = for and a = against
If Sydney score 70 we need 205
If Sydney score 100 we need 243
So theoretically, we could be on top after tomorrow's game. A 20 - 25 goal win will do it.
We'll know more tomorrow afternoon.

If we beat Sydney by a goal, I'll be ecstatic. They are going to be extremely tough today.

I'm with you, a goal will do me. Could be a season definer today, for both clubsmeher baba wrote:If we beat Sydney by a goal, I'll be ecstatic. They are going to be extremely tough today.

Huge test today. The Swans were the best team in it last season. No way have they fallen as far as ladder position indicates.

And, as I have posted in another thread, I fear that we might find ourselves up against 25 players today.

Bad timing for that Creampuff crap to happen last week, meher baba wrote:And, as I have posted in another thread, I fear that we might find ourselves up against 25 players today.
leading up to a very important game that could define our season.
It's a great chance to beat the Swans at Etihad, our fortress,
we haven't beaten them in ages and the Swines are just starting to gel,
we need everything going our way and this sledging stuff is now
an unwelcome distraction.

Re: Ladder Watch Round 9
Well that was depressing.
Currently 8th and could drop as low as 11th.
Any sort of win by Freo or Melbourne puts them ahead of us
Essendon would need at least a 15 goal win to get past us.
If Richmond were to lose by 5+ goals they would drop below us.
If GWS scores 100, Richmond would have to score 68 or less.

Saints have Dogs and Crows the next 2 games. We need to win one or will drift lower and maybe a lot lower of the ladder.

We are just keeping 9th spot warm for the Tigers at this stage.
I think both us and the Swans can make the 8.

Still don't have top end talent to challenge top 4
We are at best low 8 - 11 side but we have room to grow

Re: Ladder Watch Round 9
What's widely unreported by the media dickwads is that Port and GC had a bye this week so the ladder is incomplete.
Next week we have a full 9 games but then the stupid 3 weeks of bye rounds begins.
So we have to wait until the completion of Round 13 to have a balanced ladder

Though neither team would alter who is in the 8 at present even if you gave them both 4 points extra.saintspremiers wrote:What's widely unreported by the media dickwads is that Port and GC had a bye this week so the ladder is incomplete.

Re: Ladder Watch Round 9
I still think GWS are clear favourites. It is theirs to lose.
Obvious threats will come from Dogs and Crows.
Swans and Port are the wild cards now.
Can only see 5 winning it.

Re: Ladder Watch Round 9
The latest live ladder by Ranking Software (The guy that created and sold Champion Data) has us just sneaking into 8th by seasons end.
http://www.liveladders.com/AFL/
PS: Hawks still 17th (But equal points with 2 other clubs). So pick 2-4 if that enventuates.
