interesting to see Ray Connellan named up forward - learning the pressure forward role? use his pace to chase and tackle?
good to see Freezer ok after concussion and Josh Battle back

With Marshall unavailable, Sandy needed a tall forward, so Josh Bruce was dropped from St Kilda to replace him. :?

Yeah they've been slowly 'unleashing' Freeman, not coping the forward pocket treatment and predominantly playing on the ball. By the looks of it hes settled for less burst out of the pack and turned it into contested footy. From a saints comparison reminded me of Koby Stevens how he was nailing tackles and pressure in the NB game.

Also not sure if ive been under a rock but whats the official word on Ed Phillips. Ive heard Hip, Knee or Leg?

Bruce got one goal. AFL website said Bruce's opponent was BOG with 26 touches 15 marks.
Liam Jones was drafted by Bulldogs in 2008, didn't play much, went to Carlscum for Caleb Daniel in 2014.

Bwoose had a bad bad day in the office.

Liam Jones is much maligned for being a player who does one flashy thing during a game then nothing else for weeks. Not a good look for Brucey.

A bloke from our leadership group drops to VFL, and his up-n-down opponent has a massive game on him,
is the stuff of nightmares for the whole club.
You'd expect a 3-4 goal game where he would enjoy not being double teamed by 2 big AFL defenders,
but nooooo, a second-rate VFL defender has a blinder on him.

Richo to Gilbee: "Hey, tell us about Brucey?"
Gilbee: "his preparation, warm-up, practice set shots, were all elite...but the game started, and..."

Liam's dad who played for the saints was a ten times better player.

Though according to Blues fans Liam has been very good in the VFL this year in his new role as a defender.

Looking at the stat sheet NOK, Savage and Rice all played very well again.

White improved...and about time!

For the Dogs one would think that Savage and Rice would be the only real possibilities.

Savage has played very well every game since being dropped and we certainly could have used his kicking skills in the seniors this week.

Suspect that Richo may just put it down as ""one of those games" and not drop anyone. Obviously Newnes may miss due to concussion.

Maybe Dunstan for Savage?

I spoke to Ed on Saturday. He's in a moon boot with strained ligaments in his ankle & will hopefully be ok after the bye.

If Newnes does not get up then Savage must replace him.

How about Rice? He has been amongst Sandys best for a while now.

What about Hugh Goddard - how is he going ? As a top 20 pick we really need to get him up and going. Seems a little slow, hopeful he can develop.

Important player, a backup key back but also as a standalone back to help give us option to swing Carlisle forward.

Richo didn't have the courage at 3/4 time Saturday to swing Carlisle forward. 5 goals down, I thought he could have rolled the dice. That's said it's not his style to take a risk.

I like Rice. He uses the ball well and is togh. So would be a good choice for Newnes.

If Newnes is out my current changes would be Savage and Rice for Newnes and Dunstan. Savage and Rice have booth been in good form at Sandi and have been in the best each week for a while.

We need to improve the quality of our ball use and ability to break the lines. Savage is much better at both than Dunstan. We have the inside midfield covered with many options and so why not try Savage as an outside mid?
