Just last year we were raving about Lonie and Sinclair... And Hugh Goddard In 2013 we were big on Templeton...We were down on Dunstan last year... Wright was a certainty to get delisted...

In my thinking

Lonie is 19, Sinclair is 20 and Eli is 21
Stephen Milne did not play a game at StK until he was nearly 21, didn't cement until 21/22

All three are skilled, quick and rip it up in the VFL
Don't be too hasty on offloading them... Especially Lonie

At 23 all three will be good afl footballers

Eli is a ball carrier either wing or HB.
Sinclair a inside mid/forward.
Lonie a specialist small forward.

No-one likes a pedant but Sinclair is 6 months older than Eli.

With our No 2 pick already used our number of picks will be one less.

So not that many need to go. Moreso as I don't think that we need to elevate any of the rookies. NOK looks like he has a future, but being so light will benefit from another two preseasons. Ditto for Coughlan. However they may elevate NOK to free up a rookie slot. We already need one rookie slot for one of the two Irishman and so some rookies will go. NOK the most likely to be elevated.

Fisher - wants to play on but his continued injuries will mean no
Delaney -Coughlan will be old enough to be a KD back-up in 2017
Curren - Gresham's great first year and Acres emerging as a regular mid in the last part of the season means that he has no chance to break into the midfield now.
Shenton - That he has not been selected despite good VFL form would tend to suggest that he will be off.
Lee - may well be kept if both Fisher and Delaney go.

Unless we gain some free-agents, or do some multi-deals, or trade off a player/s we will not need to delist 5 senior list players.

Longer- If we are offered enough he may go. Let's face it we have few good players that have trade value that can be traded that we would not miss. The emergence of Hickey means that we do not need Longer.

ROOKIES

Saunders- wins plenty of ball, but just sprays it
Holmes - His future may be decided if their is striong interest in Longer. With Pierce having improved in 2017 witha well rounded game we simply do not need all of Hickey, Longer, Pierce and Holmes.
Payne- Has had 2 seasons. Has he shown enough? Or is time to churn?

Sinclair, Lonie or Templeton are possible "steak knives", nothing more. I think they'll keep Lee, but Delaney, Curren and Shenton are as good as gone. Pick 9/10 is on the table, I understand, along with Longer and the above mentioned. Steele, Marchbank, Hoskin Elliott and Mitchell are targets. Any two of those would make me very happy. Do it Saints.

I think it would be a massive mistake to get rid on Lonie. Only his second season, he's already shown that he's a craft small forward.
Once he builds up his take & body he could be a new age Milne. And with the three bigs down there, he'll get plenty of opportunities!

Agreed T P, but you've got to give something good to get something good. GWS are after a quality small forward and Lonie fits the bill. I understand they are not interested in Longer. If we are somehow going to snag one or more of their young, sidelined guns, Jack may interest them and convince them to do a deal.

There is not a hope in hell that we keep DudLee, Richo doesn't rate him at all otherwise he would've played when Chips was injured.
