Yowsers. Its amazing how contagious bad kicking can be. Glad to hear Freezer made it through another game - gives him a bit to work with in the off-season now. Lee with a lazy 3. Shents in the best again - maybe deserves a go in the ones.

Well in the last quarter they actuslly decided to play football.

Tom Lee kicked a couple of goals after being shifted into the forward line.

Freeman had a few kicks in the last quarter.

I struggle to understand how a team could play so poorly on their home ground and the conditions, TBBO were good.

Time to work on goal kicking, marking and I am beyinning to think it's somehow linked to poor decision making. No-one wants to make a decision or take a chance at kicking for goal. It seems easier to just handball to someone else so they take the heat if there is a stuff up.

Give a team of players who are prepared to back themselves and kick the ball.

Bad week for goalkicking. At least we can work on goalkicking.....the talent is there with even more to follow in 2017.
If Siposs worked as hard as his kicking talent he would still be an afl footballer...alas he is lazy.

ST KILDA forward Paddy McCartin emerged unscathed from his return to football in the VFL on Sunday.

McCartin recorded 12 disposals, six marks, four tackles and registered 1.2 in Sandringham's 24-point loss to Williamstown.

It marked his first match since he was concussed for the third time this season against Gold Coast in round 15.

The 20-year-old spent most of the game on the field but it was a rusty display.

He gave away two free kicks in the first term but ended that quarter with a strong grab. For much of the game, however, McCartin struggled to be in the right position in marking contests.

A couple of kicks did not come off the Saint's boot as he would have intended. One set shot almost helicoptered through for a goal but was touched on the line.

Despite barely any wind, inaccurate kicking plagued the Zebras. They had 1.14 on the scoreboard at three-quarter time, before eventually losing 6.22 (58) to 11.16 (82)at Trevor Barker Oval,.

Sam Fisher also pressed his case for a recall in his return from a hamstring injury. The 34-year-old defender was solid down back all day and his intercept marking and accurate disposal stood out.

Nathan Freeman played at half-forward for most of the game before moving into the backline for the final term. He finished with 12 disposals and three tackles in his third consecutive match.

The 21-year-old has been plagued by hamstring problems for much of his career

Forward Paddy McCartin finished with 12 disposals, six marks and a goal in his return from concussion in the Zebras' 24-point loss.

McCartin, the No.1 selection in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft, suffered his third concussion of the season in round 15 after colliding into teammate Tim Membrey in a marking contest against Gold Coast.

Rookie Josh Saunders, who has been unable to break into the Saints' squad this season, took the honours for his side with a team-high 30 disposals and eight marks.

Speedster Jack Lonie and utility Cam Shenton also played key roles with 20 and 19 disposals respectively, with the pair also adding a goal each.

Key position player Tom Lee kicked three of his team's six goals for the afternoon, while veteran defender Sam Fisher appeared in his first game in nine weeks after overcoming a lengthy hamstring injury.

The Zebras were inaccurate in front of goal, registering 22 behinds for the match.

No! Ticker curtailed his career. He could always play at VFL level, just like Sam Dunnell. Both starred today.
Arryn could have been anything but he didn't have the temperament to give his all. He still loves the Saints and goes to most games as a spectator!

Would we consider picking Sippos up again next year as a rookie? He'd have to be better than some of the players we picked up last year in the draft who are nowhere near it.

Skills and talent whilst closely intertwined are different things.
No doubt Sippos was (and probably still is) elite in terms of his skills.
Talent is that mix of knowing where to go to win the football, how to beat an opponent in a one-on-one and general footy smarts mixed with physical attributes that allow you to compete at the highest level. He was average at best in those categories.
And agreed injuries didn't help him.

We have talent on our list but its the skills which are the cream on top that we are missing. That's why Hawthorn can still win games even though they get less of the ball during the game - they just plain old use it better.

I liked Siposs a lot and feel he had loads of potential and was disappointed we delisted him & surprised no one else picked him up. Maybe he didn't get a good run at it, maybe it was between the ears?

In my opinion he was a far better player than Tom Lynch (now a very good player at Adelaide), he just had more tricks aside from his elite kicking skills. It's a pity, hope he gets another crack.

Yeah I've often wondered if Watters' great claim that he was the new Brendon Goddard may have put a bit too much pressure on him coupled with the fact that Watters played him across half back. He was a natural forward, unfortunately a tad too short to be a key forward, but he was a forward through and through.
