Turning up and loyalty works both ways

Post: # 1619311Post SaintPav »

In 2 minds if I'm a attending tomorrow's game.

Jack Steven said after the loss that: “we didn’t turn up”.  No s*** Jack. Maybe I just won’t turn up either.

Scott Thompson’s late replacement, Matt Crouch got 17 touches in the first quarter.  Did he just decide to turn up did he Jack?

We're not turning up every second week. Weak.

Loyalty is a two way street.

I'll think about it.

BTW. Anyone want to have a crack at me about my loyalty should think about our the last two pathetic interstate performances and home games against the Dogs and GWS.

Season defining game coming up this week. So far we have easily beaten sh*t teams and lost to good teams.
Carlton are about at our level - so this is our first real test.

I'm the type of fan that will always turn up to our home games, and have been there consistently since 1994. I understand if people don't want to turn up when we don't put in the effort.

This week is an absolutely winnable game and anyone who has faith in the boys should be there if circumstances permit.

If anyone is 50/50 about going pm me and ill buy you a beer at the game if you show up.

Go sainters!

Don't completely disagree with this but Melbourne are above us...

Good on you Milne. We'll be there; save your cash. We have a debutante; no better reason to turn up if you're even a bit iffy.

Watching Adelaide belt the Weagles did make me feel just a teeny bit better about last week's horror show, too.

Carlton are above us given that they beat Geelong and Port. I doubt we would've been able to beat Port at home and definitely couldn't see us having beaten Geelong had we played them.

Given all our key injuries you can't say we are at Carlton's level at this point in time.

Makes me want to vomit writing reality posts like these re the team

Did you notice at the end of the match - 2 former Saints, Cripps (Eagles) & Tom Lynch (Crows) were standing together and sharing quite a laugh together.

I wonder what they were laughing about? So glad they got away from the Saints or they would have been experiencing big defeats from their respective teams and not experiencing big wins over the Saints as they are now????

Or were they discussing Lyon's teams can only have wins over Essendon & Brisbane?????

Hear hear. Winning and losing is part of the game. I can cop being beaten by a better side. I can't cop poor efforts and that's happening too often for my liking.

I am old enough to remember the bad old days in the late '70's and 80's, and later, when I watched many, many horrible performances and big losses.
Then we had some success with Alves and GT, then Lyon, and it was worth the pain.
I don't like seeing them get belted by 12 goals or more on a regular basis, any more, but I will stay faithful, but not happy with the thinking of the current coaches and their blind faith in unskilled worker bees who cannot kick, and handball to a guy under pressure.

This is a very poor OP IMO

It's one thing not to go to games due to the logistical difficulties, or because ppl have other commitments: shift work, family etc

But due to a misconceived perception of entitlement!

Piss weak IMO.

In the context of the comment, I think JS obviously means that they couldn't execute the game plan. Not that they didn't try, not that they didn't put in the work/effort and not that they aren't/weren't committed.
Sometimes you get beaten.

To borrow a favourite line of yours Pav, why don't look Jack in the eye and say "no sh17 mate maybe I won't turn up either".

I'm glad that we have a lot more loyal members than you

Each to their own I guess.

I'm a 23yo and started following the Saints in 1999 so I've obviously been lucky to follow the Saints through the (relatively) successful years and thankfully missed the 70's and 80's. In saying that though, I don't think I could ever just not turn up and not support the team. The early 2000's were ugly but I was just drawn and didn't want to miss a game.

My old man was a mad blue's supporter and it was tradition to always go to this match no matter what. He's passed on a few years ago now so I take the wife with me and make sure I never miss this game, even though I have a horrible feeling that we're going gown by 6 goals today.

It's also smack bang in the middle of ramadan which means we'll be breaking our fast a little later than usual today but that's okay because I just love watching the boys go about their thing.

Go Saints.

Not sure I'll turn up today. A mirror image of the club's year so far.

I suppose Wright came in out of necessity due to injuries.
He obviously has something to offer so I look forward to seeing what he can do and how he performs.
