ESSENDON wants draft pick No. 5 for Jake Carlisle and has promised to send the star defender to St Kilda when the AFL trade period opens at 10am on Monday if the Saints deliver.

The Bombers are building a draft bonanza as they replenish their list under new coach John Worsfold and should finish the exchange period with four picks inside 25 — their strongest position in draft history.

Essendon — which already holds picks four and 23 — is confident of landing Melbourne’s pick 25 for Jake Melksham and is determined to prise No. 5 from the Saints.

The Bombers — excluded from the first two rounds of the 2013-14 drafts as part of sanctions over the supplements saga — have not had four picks in the top-25 since 1998.

They have activated just five top-25 selections since 2009.

The clubs could be headed for an impasse with the Saints last week hesitant to part with No. 5 but Dons list chief Adrian Dodoro told the Herald Sun on Sunday a pick later in the first round would not satisfy.
such a useless turd Didoro trying to put us under pressure via media- apparently he is under heat for not getting deals done and may get the @ss so lets hope Saints boys tear him a new one.......hes playing mind games pick 5 as Ameet stated is not on the table for direct swap for Carlisle.......that's not to say it couldn't be used in a larger trade to net us something else in return for a pick downgrade.

Here you go.
http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20 ... edback.pdf

But you may be trying to work this out:
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-11/t ... -get-there

How will he get there? This one won't happen quickly. The Bombers expect the Saints' No.5 pick as compensation, but that won't happen. St Kilda list manager Ameet Bains was quick to declare last week that pick was off the table as a straight swap, meaning some creative trading will need to take place. If the Patrick Ryder deal is taken as a loose guide, the Bombers earned equivalent of 1442 points for him, with Port Adelaide paying a premium because he was still under contract at Essendon. The Saints have 1878 points with pick five so if they could find something around pick nine or 10's value (at 1395 and 1469 points respectively) then a deal could happen quickly. This might require a third party to enter the equation.

Great then they should be happy to receive Pick 24 (785pts) + next year's 2nd Rounder (lets say pick 28 which is 677pts) - 1462pts - more points than pick 10 alone!!

Seriously this pts equivalent business is a joke - pick 10 on the surface is worth way more than two 2nd rounders combined ...... I dont know why they bother to print this s***??

Well from those in the know at BF are saying we may be considering trading 5 and our second rounder for a top 10 pick and a teens pick.
The teens pick would be used for Carlisle.

But looks like Dildo is trying to use the media as much as possible to get Carlisle's value up.

I'd be happy to wait until the last day of trading and if he doesn't accept our offer we try in the PDS, who knows we may even get to keep our picks and get Carlise.
If not there's some good talent at pick 5

Jon Ralph
Blues keen on Aish if he goes into pre-season draft. Lions want new rules for draftees

Wonder if Carlile was there as well

And one more
Jon Ralph
Patty Ryder moved to Port for picks 17 and 37. Essendon asking for 5 for Carlisle. Saints saying Ryder deal shows 5 is too much

@RalphyHeraldSun Yep. Ryder contracted too, Carlisle not. Will take some fancy work to please all parties

If that is the case then that would clear the way for us to get Carlisle in the PSD unless of course Essendon decide to redraft him out of spite - Brisbane and Gold Coast wont select him as he has no intention of moving interstate and his price would also count them out

Interesting few weeks coming up

The reporting really pisses me off
Bombers won't budge on Carlisle compo

A trade stand-off could be developing between Essendon and St Kilda as the clubs haggle over fair value for Jake Carlisle.

The Herald Sun reports the Dons won't release the 197cm backman for less than the Saint's first pick, currently No.5, in November's draft – despite St Kilda refusing to put that selection on the table.
The guy is OOC. They dont need to 'release' him from anything.

If the Pies get Treloar for pick 7 plus a 2nd rounder they have done very well. Hopefully we shaft them on Freeman.

I think Aish walking to Carlton is now a serious possibility. Leigh Matthews is going to blow this for the Lions. I can sense it.

He might blow it for the Lions, but this would be a great outcome for the Saints. If Aish goes into the PSD, Blues will pick him up, leaving the Saints with a free hit on Carlisle, as I doubt Lions and GC would take him, and the Bombers would be crazy to try and re-draft a bloke who has stated he doesn't want to be there any longer.

They can't redraft Carlisle against his will

I think we will trade pick 5 to Adelaide for 9 and their first round pick 12? ( now Dangerfield deal done) and then use one of these to get the Carlisle trade done and still keep a first rounder this year. Freeman then for 2nd rounder

I am strongly in favour of doing a deal with Adelaide. After losing Dangerfield they will be determined to land a SA kid with their first pick (Francis or Milera) so will need pick 5 to guarantee that.

From our point of view - there is no realistic way we can get Carlisle and also keep pick 5 - but pick 9 is still a very good pick. The chances of a gun slipping to pick 9 are quite high if we have done our homework. 13 for Carlisle is about right.

Lets do this deal!

9, 14 + Carlisle + Freeman would be a very good outcome.

Why would Hickey go to Sydney when the reason why he came to Melbourne was his GF?

Wht would Hickey go to Sydney when the reason why he came to Melbourne was his GF?
Because he can get game time. And not chill in the seconds or be forced to try and be a forward/Ruck

And before someone asks why we would do that trade..
Pick 9, Pick 14, Carlisle and Freeman makes for a pretty successful trade period.

Longer has proven to be pretty durable. Take a mature ruckman with a late pick as insurance.

But as SR pointed out he came here because of his GF so either she needs to change her mind where she lives or they have broken up.

I'm sure he expected to get game time too..
Unless he is happy to play VFL to stay in Melbourne and keep his girlfriend happy.

Not sure that Adelaide would trade 9 & 13 for pick 5 alone, suspect they would want our second pick as well. If that were the case the Saints would have to re-work a Freeman trade.
