I only watched some of the game online, and hopefully folks that were there can correct me where I'm wrong (bit hard to tell from a dodgy stream) but the few things I noticed were;

Siposs seemed to be playing onball, and was actually doing pretty well and getting a fair few possessions, throwing his body in and tackling hard. Was a shame he ran into Heads head.

Simpkin also looked like he was playing some of the game onball, or as a tagger, Seemed to be in at some of the centre bounces. Played okay and is a wrecking ball. Really works hard with multiple efforts.

Pierce looks like he has skill but is still way too light for Seniors, was easily pushed aside.

Markworth and Spencer look good when they get it, but I can't help but think they play a brand of footy that is bruise free.

Saad does well at this level but his inability on his left gets him into trouble a lot.

Paddy needs to work out how to get rid of people when they're scragging him. Hopefully getting stronger will help. The occasional Tony Locket headlock wouldn't go astray.

What do you Know- Sandy rate a headline and not just a one liner
Sandringham have moved into premiership mode for the first time since their three-peat in 2004-06 after a 28-point win over Geelong on Sunday, which has promoted the Zebras to second spot behind the Box Hill Hawks.
While St Kilda development coach Simon McPhee laid the foundations with two finals appearances in his three seasons as coach of the Zebras, Paul Hudson has taken the club to the next level this season, as it aims to deliver a flag to its affiliate before it plans to go alone from 2017.
Talented Zebras youngster Kenny Ong perhaps described it best when he said: "Huddo's been super for all of the boys. I think he brings super enthusiasm and he brings passion." VFL onlookers noted on Sunday that it was terrific to see the Zebras, a former powerhouse in the 1990s and early 2000s, back in the flag hunt. It has the best return of any VFL club, with seven flags over the past 25 years.

Hudson puts the Zebras' success this season down to his three notable additions over the off-season: Clint Jones, Mitch Brown and Trent Dennis-Lane.
"I don't know if it's luck but I really think the addition of Clint Jones, Mitch Brown and Trent Dennis-Lane and the fact that it speaks volumes for the alignment when you've got Clint Jones get delisted and Trent Dennis-Lane from the club and they still want to stay with Sandy and help us to become better and it speaks volumes for them and their character," Hudson said after Sunday's ninth win from their past 10 matches.

Basically we skipped out to a 2-3 goal lead early in the game but were unable to put Geelong away.
There were opportunities missed and Geel kept in touch with a couple of technical frees and a 50m so we never closed the door.
Will need to play better against Casey.

But wasn't it pleasant to enjoy a bit of sun and warmth instead of the usual arctic breeze off the bay!

Have to agree that jones & TDL staying on at sandy after being delisted shows great character, would be very easy to spit the dummy and play elsewhere... Good on them, both should be applauded.

Nice to read of behind the scenes
http://www.saints.com.au/news/2015-08-2 ... at-the-vfl
Quarter 4

Most of the dialogue this afternoon has been about structures in front of the ball and around the ball, but aided by a healthy lead, the coaches’ box is now discussing who the loose man in defence should be. The consensus is that it should be Mitch Brown, who is enjoying yet another standout game in defence.

Hudson has controlled the phone all day, but five minutes in Gilbee takes it and instructs the runner to tell the defenders to kick long out of defence. ‘None of this short to 50/50 stuff,’ he says.

Gilbee’s role is to be a steadying influence. Hudson rides every bump and tackle, so it’s Gilbee that acts as his right hand man. ‘I try to be a voice of reason,’ he says later. ‘I want to get the simplest message across to the players, without emotion getting in the way. It’s easier said than done though.’

The contest is going the way of Sandringham, but frustrations still exist due to turnover goals.

‘That’s your theme for the week,’ McPhee says. ‘We butcher it and can’t afford to do that in finals.’

As the game ticks into red time, Hudson reminds everyone that a home final is on the line.

Gilbee mentions a young Sandringham-listed player that could be destined for an AFL list next year. ‘Put him in a full-time system and watch him flourish,’ he says.

‘He doesn’t see the game like you did,’ Hudson replies.

‘Not many did!’ Gilbee laughs.

And with that, the final siren sounds. Sandringham’s finals destiny remains in its own hands. Second spot is pencilled in, with a win against Casey Scorpions in round 20 certain to sew up a qualifying final encounter at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.

The coaches shake hands, Hudson says a quick hello to his parents on the way back to the rooms, and from then the attention turns to the Zebras next challenge.

Why have Sandy only been on the telly for one match this season? I think it a f****** disgrace!

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
