Getting Serious

Post: # 1531977Post tony74 »

Training went up a notch this morning. Think you might see a few bigger names in on Saturday. Good to see Sammy doing laps around the oval.

In Dunstan, Minchington...

Simpkin training, or still knee soreness?

Daniel was in full training this morning, only light strapping on the shoulder. Tom Hickey was moving really well.

Thanks again for the update, Tony. Particularly pleased to hear about about our own sponsored player, who needs to avoid black cats and ladders for the foreseeable future.

Tony 74 said in part -

.

Thanks for the notes Tony. From what I saw last week in our practice match against the Lions, it would need to go up a lot. We have new recruits and plenty of pre-season training time to improve our skills, but I thought that it was at a schoolboy level for much of the time, last week

Wouldn't have thought so regarding Nick.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Any chance Hickey will stay healthy and play most of the year?

I would say baring injury he will only play the last practice game.

Is Hickey over-rated on here? from what I've seen has only played very good footy in a couple of quarters. They were very promising quarters but mostly he's slow and still has a long way to go.
I don't see training so I will trust others that have seen more...

Sometimes when players are injured supporters only remember the good games/quarters.

We spoke too soon. Popped out in a training drill yesterday. He's one unlucky man.

Bloody hell. I really am gutted for him. It must be so hard to back up again and again, and this time a different injury.

Tony, putting you in charge of eliminating black cats, ladders, cracked mirrors and anything else someone's great grandmother would be afraid of from Seaford.

Yep. But it was strapped ( only lightly ) and it was a very inconspicuous movement.

Here's a thought, take no risk...he doesn't participate in drills until his shoulder heals and runs laps like the rest of them

Sounds simple but on any given day 80% have some strapping on them. Roo would never be able to train
Marky knew what not to do, it was more of an arm contact rather than a tackle. If you saw him on Tuesday you'd conclude he was right.

80% of them don't need the softly softly approach that should of been taken with Dan...

He wasn't worth risking IMHO

Get him fully fit next time before sending him back out

There is this Chinaman who always walks his black cat along the bike path at every training session. I really never noticed him even though he was always towing behind him a load of mirrors and ladders. What I always found strange though was why he put his umbrella up when the sun was shining.
Come to think of it he walked past at least a dozen times back in September 9/10

Yep, easy to say in retrospect. He was earmarked for the Hawks game, could have played against Essendon but they took the cautious approach. Honestly it was just bad luck, not poor management. Many of the staff make the decision, with lots of scenarios in place. The club is incredibly professional although an injury such as this can appear amatuerish. I can assure you it wasn't.
