RIP Kenny Whiffin - 10.1.14- memories of Kenny

I was fortunate to have known Ken for many years. It would be impossible to find a finer clubman and gentleman. If you wish to see the largest gathering of past and present players and officials of the St.Kilda Football Club in its history it will be at his funeral. That's how admired he was. We use our great motto for many reasons but never has a time been so fitting.

P.S. He had a left rip that brought tears to the toughest of footballers.

Well said. He was a great bloke. Made a ripper bacon & eggs fry up breakfast on the BBQ as well. RIP Kenny. One of the absolute greats.

I have a cherished photo of Kenny, Plugger and me at the Social Club on Brownlow Night after Plugger won the Medal.

Rest in Peace Kenny, always remember his wife and daughter used to sit in front of us in Sec 16 of the grandstand at Moorabbin.

People like Kenny is why we love the Club.

One of the saddest days for all Saints fans today with the passing of StKilda club legend and great mate Kenny Wiffen.. Thoughts go out to all his family, and the club will never be the same again. He was in the Gym doing boxing training only a week or so ago, and was even in hospital yesterday was still cracking jokes.. He committed his whole life to the club and to all the players, who he used to call 'My Boys'... Kenny was always the first one at the club and the last one to leave, and always had time to give that one extra rub to one of the older guys before going home.... as if a young fella or a rookie would try get one he would say 'piss off young fella, you're too young to get sore'.. Will miss you mate, Bakesy..

ST KILDA is mourning long-time trainer Ken Whiffin who passed away on Saturday evening, aged 87.

Whiffin was a trainer, mentor, confidante and friend to generations of St Kilda players ever since his arrival at the club in 1965.

St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt said Whiffin was a much-loved identity who was the fabric of the club.

“Ken was extremely close to the playing group and always gave encouragement and support when needed,” Riewoldt said.

“In a time when almost everyone involved in football clubs are paid employees, he did what he did for the love of the club and dedicated his life to St Kilda. Ken was the ultimate Saints man and will be sadly missed by all who had the good fortune to meet him.
