I'll be supporting....

For 7 of the last 8 seasons we've been dreaming of September glory at this time of year. This detached disinterest feels a little foreign. Can we spice up the finals by supporting the team we dislike least? Let's see:

Hawks - no, I was there in 71 when they stole it from us - and they've won their share since then
Swans - no, I was there in 2005 when we lost a prelim that had fallen so beautifully for us
Crows - no, I was there in 97 when we were the shortest priced favorites in living memory
Eagles - perhaps, little history with us
Pies - you've got to be joking, I was there for both of them in 2010
Cats - no way, I was there when we kicked it away in 2009
Dockers - absolutely not, I'd prefer anyone else at the moment
North - perhaps, pretty harmless

Not sure that's made me feel a whole lot better

Agree with your sentiments Fidells. I was also there for those losing GFs. They still hurt. Probably throw Sydney into mix as a lost Preliminary is not quite as bad as Grand Final day.

What really pisses me off - is looking at Hawthorn - for many years we fought each other not to get the wooden spoon
but since 1971 Hawthorn have won 9 flags - Saints 0, it annoys me greatly.

Which of these teams would you least like to play next year in the GF? Yes I am forever optimistic, I am a Saints supporter after all which is probably now in the Oxford Dictionary as one of the definitions for optimist. Anyway, Two teams stand out- Hawks and West Coast. Hard to see the Hawks getting much better but West Coast will be even better next year- remember who is still missing from this side- eg le cras , who will only get better with another year - Big nat for one! I hope they win and will be a little less hungry in 2013!
