Find your own cheap pick ups

Have made a preliminary side, but it is sure to change just before the bounce Round 1.

Think I'm in the same league as you Matrix?

I'm the Whisks, so when I hopefully beat you, you will have been beaten by the whisks

I have done the same, keep making little changes on the bench based on NAB cup performances.

It's all well and good that some kids are starring, but who are they behind selection wise at their respective clubs? I've liked what I've seen in players like Savage, Zac Clarke....but who are they behind and will they even get a game?

I'm not very good, but it's some fun anyways. :)

Getting to that point of starting to stress out about your side.

Going to be an interesting season with the byes, and calculating who to pick to avoid bad scores.

Every time I look at my side I make a small change, so many factors to consider.

Want it to hurry up and start so I can't keep tweaking my side!

Anyone got a team they need help with? Post them up here and I'm sure there will be some helpful suggestions for what to do to improve your starting side.

I'm not happy with my first draft...

Should be right after about 55 attempts on kick off day

Got to the stage where I have even written down who has what bye thats how worried I am. Who are everyone's big worries going into round 1?

I have ditched chapman and hodge. Both guns but will struggle early. Bit worried about lake but even a 90% lake will still score highly.

How many GC players have people chosen first up. Remember that it takes 3 games to get a price increase so it's not too late if you miss a young gun in round 1

I think values go up from Round 1 this season, due to the situation where sides play one another from Round 1, and not all AFL teams playing every week.

Got 4 GC players, don't want to overload too much, and hopefully get the rights ones from the start and then have some downgrade targets for later in the year.

What about the Captain loophole for Round 1? Anyone else going to risk it?

Prices still change on the 3 game rolling average.

I'm pretty sure for those who played last season those scores contribute to their price from Round 1. It's very much a trial season with 17 clubs, and probably good it's only going to be for one season!

Question.

I had Roo in my team, but have been concerned that without Kosi forward so far this year, he has been the subject of a lot of extra attention and seems to be our only tall option.

Can't see Stanley, Lynch or Archer being quite the formiddle threat that Kosi is....and Gilbert isn't quite a lead up marking forward.

Do you think his price may drop and he'd be better to get in say after the bye?

It's a good point but remember that last year in the first 5 rounds kosi was missing for most of it and he was still one of the hottest DT/SC players in the league.

Yep, I am going to have Judd as vice-captain and not select a captain until the Friday (if Judd doesn't score well enough). It is a risk, but it worked last year so we shall see how it goes. Not sure how they could stop it with a partial lockout. They haven't said you must select captain and vice captain before the partial lockout so hopefully it will be ok.

Yeah I guess, though Kosi played round one with him, then Roo missed from Rd 3, Gardiner also pushed forward.

Not convinced, but I'm also not very good at this

Don't think it's any problem. Roo gets the bulk of his ball from relentless leading up at the ball and running his opponenet into the ground. Lead up marks are worth more points this year. Roo is your first picked in the forward line

Way too many players from 1 team there (even being St Kilda)

I only have BJ, Roo and Monty.

Well you don't actually have to have them done by Thursday night.

Only the teams who played need to be selected, and then the lock out doesn't begin until the next game starts.

Gives you 2 shots at picking a captain, so there is an upside to a partial lock out.

It's go time the next month I think. I've been sitting patiently waiting for a run,and haven't had the best start, but it's almost time to start this mega shopping spree as my rookies start reaching there peak in the coming weeks.

First to go this weekend,Duigan, nice job with the $$,but your time has come
