2 moments from ........................#44

Post: # 1019004Post saintbrat »

so can we find 22 pairs of memories of Milney

as he heads into his 11th year

# his consistency- he just keep bouncing back despite his knockers and hasn't played less than 20 H&A games since 2003

# his marking-he is in top 10 saints with over 100 marks for the year- to me appears to have very sure hands.

I still remember i had a party and i was the worst ever host.
I was watching Milney on fire. 11 goals against Brisbane, truly magnificent display.
Around that time he also had the best set shot percentage in the league. He never missed. Don't have the stats on hand.... anyone.
Love the Milne.

Milneys first training session..is the first person do dob a ball into a wheelie bin. Celebrates like a maniac, running and jumping into Fraser Gehrigs arms.

Bakes: "Hmm this blokes a bit different...hope he can play"

My definite fav: Goal v Geelong, 1st final 2010., outmarks Hunt, snaps the goal., and the crowd's reaction thereafter.

If I recall correctly in 2001 we played Hawthorn and lost by a couple of goals in what was a fairly entertaining game (Hawks may have been undefeated).

We made a flurry for the lead after trailing early and in the third 1/4 we kicked the ball high into the 50.

Stephen Milne took what was an awesome speccy, landed on his feet, ran around the player he just landed in front of and snapped a goal.

I thought he would be a gem for us after that night

The snap against Brisbane Lions in 2004 ( the Schwarze last minute goal game) when he gathered the ball in the pocket, danced around a couple of outstretched arms and snapped the goal over his shoulder. The crowd was deafening, one of the most electrifying moments at Etihad Stadium I have experienced. It was an amazing goal and the Saints fans went crazy!!

My highlight from Milne is yet to come - actually contributing in a major final.

2010 Qualifier v Geelong.

"Stephen Milne – Exceptional game from Milne who put his mark on this match in the second term kicking 3 goals in the space of ten minutes. He had 7 tackles, 9 marks, 3 clearances, 3 inside 50s and 2 scoring assists to really stamp his authority in a big game."

Your cup is now full.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

he was actually nominated three times.
they would have nominated him four times but that would have stopped the druggo from hawthorn winning it with his running into an unguarded paddock and almost losing possession after a wobbled bounce.
and here we were, thinking that quarterbrain was just a newsreader.

the port goal at aami down our end out of the air

87 shots at goal in 2010 to kick 57 of them (not bad for an old man )

Agreed, Milney has been unfairly judged in finals....

Even for his GF2 performance, many supporters suggest we must cut him... We all know he wasn't alone in having a shocker, and I doubt even Lockett in the goal square would've done much better with the way the ball went forward...

If we had won one by now, and he's a premiership player, it'd never be brought up again... Much like how Didak has done far less than Milne in finals, but now it will never matter, he has a medal...

4 goals in 200th game v Freo, the first was incredible.

7 tackles in this year's QF, but you won't hear anyone talk about that.
