Good piece about adding Sloane and Gaff (especially for the rev heads).

Ties in with Dermott Brereton’s comments on 360 the other night (occasionally he says something coherent, even sensible).

Said from about 6-8 to 33 we have the best list in the comp - solid, competent, no changes required. It’s lifting the top 6 that is critical.

The problem we have is attracting these players. Why would Sloane walk off the ground last night thinking “I just can’t deal with this slick ball movement, high scoring and efficient disposal, I’m moving to Moorabbin!!!”

A club like ours, especially when we’re struggling on-field, will only ever be able to attract mercenary free agents who are flawed in some way, and that will only take you so far. Exhibit A is Carlisle last night, the bloke has a few screws lose and he was close to losing the plot completely in the second half.

I think we all have this dream that a Dangerfield-type situation will fall in our lap but it just ain’t gonna happen for us.

At a team soon to become favourites for the wooden spoon? Not likely. Bags of cash so far haven’t been made the likes of us or North sparkle to out-of-contract superstars.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

You do understand that this is endorsing that we have stuffed things up? That having probably the poorest Top 5 means that we have failed at list building.

Sloane well beaten by Dunstan last night. If we got him he'd be tagged out of every game against weaker mid sides. Gaff and McGovern would be very, very good pick ups.

Great article. We have built up a great team of B grade talent all over the list and in every position. I would say Ross, Stevens, Carlisle and Roberton lie between A and B grade but may never push into a final AA side.
Gresham, Billings, Acres and Dunstan will probably get to the level of the above players within 2-3 years so its not all too bad. Hopefully they get up to AA standard.

We really nees to snag a true A grader or two. McGovern, Lynch, Sloane and/or Gaff fingers crossed.

I still want us to get the best mid in this years draft to add to the good recruitment of Clark and Coffield from last year. We are looking at a top 10 pick again which is handy.

We’re not a version of Richmond in 2016.

Richmond played finals in three consecutive seasons from 2013-2015 and finished 5th twice.

Bad comparison.

Why waste your time using logic, SP? Your intellect is wasted on the Pollyannas. They believe we're capable of anything, despite the fact we have a s*** admin, s*** recruiters, and s*** coaches. We think that in the overwhelming evidence against us, we're somehow going to win a flag in the next few years. Ba ha ha ha. One in 145 years and nothin has changed.

"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

You take this gig way too seriously Mr Huggins. ST KFC isn't life or death mate. Part of following a footy or any sports club is going through the good and bad times. Its more frustrating than anything else following a footy side. I'm sure you know all this anyway.

Please don't say you leave several messages on the receptionists phone's for her every Monday morning detailing your dislike of everything ST KFC. :D :)

We’re not Richmond. We haven't made the finals in seven years.

Well, we've been going nowhere for years, recently extended the coaches contract in spite of our performances, and have an average list...direct comparisons are inevitable. If we could land a Caddy, Nankervis and Prestia in the off-season I'd be pretty happy!

Comparing us to the West Indian cricket team might be more relevant, mon.

As an aside, I did notice Port have Joel Garner on their list. So, since they have Big Bird already, I think we've missed that comparison too.
