"Sandringham (VFL)

Coach Aaron Hamill

2017 The Zebras were disappointing last year, finishing 11th out of 14 teams.

System St Kilda is allowed as many senior players lining up for the Zebras as it wants. With Hamill part of the Saints system, the club has control over on-field strategy. St Kilda assistant coach Adam Skrobalak is the head coach at the Frankston Dolphins, and the two clubs have an arrangement that will allow rookie big man Lewis Pierce to play at the Dolphins. That will ensure he can spend time in the ruck and up forward, rather than in defence as happened at times last year in a Sandringham side that had other talls in his preferred positions.

History This alignment has been in place since 2009, but it was only since last year that the Saints could field as many senior-listed players as they wanted. In 2001, the Saints linked with Springvale, which moved to Casey in 2006. – Dinny Navaratnam"

Interesting re Lewis Pierce.

Yeap, Tom wanted 2016, Bill wanted it in 2017, no-one is at the front of the class room putting their hand up this year at the minute!!!!!

Hopefully that will be addressed this week in what is one of the toughest asked in the AFL, taking on the Big Sauce!!!!!

I saw Marshall play against Melbourne At Casey Fields in the practice games and I think he's putting his hand up.
I really like Richo's ins at the selection table, happy to see the new boys get a game, but I think we should have two ruckmen in this week. Worried that Marshall might be thrown to the wolves a bit. Bruce is not the answer as the relief ruckman as the oppo ruckmen always seem to play unattended, and the defender who was on Bruce seems to play as a spare player in defence when he is rucking. Stuffs up our structures. It also means that if our ruckman gets injured our opposition control all of the centre clearances. Think Marshall is the right choice to come in as he has some form at Sandy to recommend him but he might need a chop out against Adelaide and he isn't really going to get it. At least Marshall has played a bit of VFL so he's rucked against big fellas before, but just not as talented as footballers.
Adelaide are definitely going to try to blow us out of the water in the first ten minutes, and they'll play the man at every opportunity too to try to put us off our game.
Still, the last time Richo brought in a lot of new faces we nearly beat Port Power in Adelaide for the first time in donkey's years, so I'll back his judgement. If nothing else the changes reward effort. (I would always prefer new guys like Clark to get four or five games in a row before being dropped though).

Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

What is the use of the VFL if it's schedule doesnt tie in with the AFL?

Agree it’s a joke.
And how pathetic last year finishing 11th considering how few injuries we had?

Just shows are young players either aren’t much good and/or aren’t being developed at the speed required to be AFL standard.

Do Sandy ever actually play?
Or is is just a training squad thing where everyone gets a track suit?

I heard about Lewie a few weeks ago on the radio. On SEN they were saying it didn't sound right. I didn't realise Adam Skrobalak was our ruck coach and now the Dolphins head coach. It all makes sense now. Interesting article on it here:
https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.her ... 88353df0be

It's no wonder our rucks haven't developed that well. They spend so much time sharing the role and playing as a "forward" in the VFL.

I was warming to him until Buckenara said, "He's highly regarded!" What do you think, Con Gorozides?

"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."
