Don’t understand why we would play Brown ahead of Logan and Gilbo ahead of any of the other 3 emergencies...

No disrespect to the two clearly first 22 seniors but surely the game time is more valuable for the less than decade old careers

I can see the logic eVen older players need to get back into the swing of things with just two JLT games there is less room for experimentation.

Last year JLT 1 give the new boys a run, JLT 2 play everyone, JLT 3 rest the veterans.

This year seems to be more about playing the starting 22 barring injury or recovery from injury game 2 may see some of the older players rested.

Billings and Bruce carrying injuries? Surprised also not to see Austin playing.
Good luck Armo! Going to be hotly contested in the inside mid department - be nice to play wing.
I remember my first state hockey trial- play left wing mum said - no one wants to play left wing. so i did, and she was right - made the team!

I think we have named a squad of 30 and that is the AFL's guess at a lineup.

Pretty strong side, looks close to round 1 apart from our forward line and uncertainty over who will start in the mids.

I too am surprised that Bruce isn't playing, he must be nursing something or maybe he's in such ripping nick they're going to wheel him out for his 100 goal season and surprise everyone :)

From the hun:

"Goalkicker Tim Membrey has been named alongside McCartin as Josh Bruce continues to build his training following a knee arthroscope."

I really hope we see White playing most of this year in the ones, stiff competition down back though.

Wright & Weller must have had good summers as neither were best 22 players at the end of last year… I guess they are potentially holding spots for Bruce and Billings.

Analysing the side...we are putting out a very strong unit for game 1. Maybe in the next JLT game a few other players will get a crack.

Given who cannot play due to injury and/or cotton wool that is a strong squad.

My guess is that with our two most winnable games for the year being Round 1 and 2 that the Club wants to hit the start of the season firing on all cylinders (ie wants our best players up and about).

Agree with this comment, Brown and Gilbo will be right come round 1.

I'm a little disappointed with White given he played some senior footy last year.
They would be rewarding preseason form and I guess Long and Wright had better preseason form.

I'd love to see Marshall fire and become a genuine dangerous forward and relief ruck.
This would allow Bruce to go to back and replace Brown giving us an athletic key defender who can mark and attack.

Agree would have liked to have seen both White and Logan in - primary reason being its a JLT. Could argue the case for rice too
