Yep. And off for surgery to boot. Not a minor nick - he's in all sorts. Feel shattered for the kid - and for us supporters who were hoping his outside speed might've helped make a difference this year. What a waste.

Have to wonder how many other teams looked at him when we traded for him. A second rounder seems overs looking back. But at the time he was a top 10 pick with rotten luck.

If no other clubs were having a look, maybe Collingwood fleeced us

I still think he will get a game at the end of the season just as a thank you for all your efforts and never giving up. Good PR for the club and seems like the right thing to do

Assuming finals are off the table of course

Spare me the histrionics ffs, it's a minor setback.

"NATHAN Freeman's AFL career is on hold again with the luckless St Kilda midfielder suffering yet another hamstring setback that may require surgery.

Freeman, 22, will miss a period of the pre-season after reporting soreness last Friday during a training session.

A decision will be made this week about whether an operation to clean up scar tissue is the best course of action.

"Nathan has done a huge amount of work with our medicos and conditioning team over the summer to reach the level needed to play AFL football," football manager Simon Lethlean said.

"Friday's injury, while relatively minor, suggests there could be an underlying issue with scar tissue that is preventing him from reaching his full capacity.

"Nathan will consult a specialist this week, but regardless of whether surgery is the preferred option, the recovery period is expected to be the same as a conventional rehab program.

"It's hoped he will only miss a few weeks of work on the track, where after he can then find a level of continuity with training and playing games that creates a platform to push for AFL selection."

I don't think its game over but it is death by 1000 cuts for the poor guy. I like how he went to Germany on his own coin last year. Can't fault the guy nor his commitment

Freeman v's scar tissue

Post: # 1711648Post the dome »

Very disappointing for the Free man.
I'm still hoping he gets a bit of luck going his way.
All the best of luck to Nathan.

Lets not write him off. Club is saying its minor which is good and they need to clear up scar tissue which is causing issues. Still a long way to go this season and he is reportedly very fit at the moment so he is not gone by all means.

I'm no med expert but why hasn't this scar tissue been picked up already? Even by the German experts.

According to George on bigfooty, he was asked if it was the same incident we were talking about a few weeks back.
It was the same one. He didn't injure it on Friday like The Age reported because he didn't even play in the match sim to begin with.

It's a cleanup of scar tissue, as I said a few weeks back he did twang it slightly, it's probably going to sideline him for a couple of weeks. He would be ruled out for JLT 1 but possibility for JLT 2.

Pretty sure this is the same Injury Jax and Tony reported on a week or so ago, maybe they could confirm?

Very disappointing news.

Unfortunately, it's probably all over for him now. He needs to be written off in the depreciation column; any return from here is a total bonus.

How annoying. I had such high hopes for him. He is exactly the player we needed and instead he's probably a lost cause now.

Yes
That's what I was thinking.

In fairness to him , we've probably got about 20 blokes on our list who are never going to be anything more than C grade players.
They may play a certain number of senior games but will that satisfy. What would rather
A career where you were never quite good enough or
A career cut short by injuries.

Of course the club is putting a positive spin on it. What else can it do? It's a bit like the other dozen or so "setbacks" he's had. I feel for the guy. What a shattering experience. I'm just as worried about the psychological impact of this as anything else. He must be at the end of his tether. I really hope he can squeeze one senior game out of himself so he can look back and say that he was a senior AFL footballer. The type of player we really needed as well. The Bermuda Triangle of football down at Moorabbin strikes again!

"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Spoke to him weekend before last and says he was a chance for round 1 just depending on the coaches as they’re obviously still cautious with the guy. Just a minor set back anyway just seems to be scar tissue from early reports nothing to worry about.

So if it's scar tissue then an op to cut it away.
