20.6 million

Post: # 1711101Post Enrico_Misso »

= the AFL handout to StKilda last year.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/st-kilda-s ... 4yzmd.html

The media are making it out as a lottery winning bonanza instead of compensation for the scandalous bordering on criminal stadium deal imposed on us, our shafting in the twilight zone draw, exclusion from blockbuster games, and invisibility in the live to air TV schedule.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

does this take into account the $8.8 million grant? if it does then it makes it a very different figure

Seems to?:

"The Saints made an operating profit last year of $796,000. Their net profit was $5.2 million, but that figure included an $8.8 million grant for the construction of the new home back at Moorabbin and took into account write-downs and depreciation".

Doggies at nearly $17mil post premiership is probably a bigger story IMO.

What is not reported is that the $ allocations to clubs are not random or even based on need.

They are to a strict formula and clubs can apply for exceptional funding.

The formula starts at a base figure for all clubs and then based on stadium deals including signage rights, seating etc and then fixturing clubs (each club is ranked by audience appeal both live and televised) and free to air television exposure vs pay tv exposure (which has a flow on impact on sponsorship revenue streams) ... so ...

20.6 million tells you the Saints in 2017 had the worst stadium deal + worst fixture + worst TV exposure and thus got compensated financially the most.

AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)
