Hunter Clarke - one to watch

Post: # 1708274Post 6621104 »

Everything about this kid looks controlled- the only kid in the top 10 who looks as good on the non-preferred side as the preferred (a la Leon Cameron); he has the evasiveness of Lenny and Harves; the vision and handball smarts of Simon Black; he gets his arms up above the tackle like the Bont and seems always able to dish off. This against boys I grant you, but this kid should really excite us all.

Apparently in his junior career he had an injury which prevented him from using his preferred kicking foot so he was forced to kick with the other for 6 weeks. He then took it upon himself to only kick with the non-preferred foot when he played against weaker teams until he became totally ambidextrous. Now he is very similar to Sam Mitchell in that his kicking on both feet is so natural that no one can tell what his preferred foot is

There is just a little of Nicky Winmar about him for me. Seems to know when to strike and when to dispose. Strength, speed, skill and awareness, a classy combination.

It would be great if him and Coffield got a few games into them in the seniors. Plus a number at Sandy would be nice. The 1st year players need to be managed a bit.

My son works at Calder Cannons and watched Clark play Half back flank with a deliberate hard tag and still amassed thirty possesions.

A mix of Lenny Hayes, Robert Harvey, Simon Black, Sam Mitchell and Nicky Winmar... either we like our hyperboles or we’ve just recruited Neo from the Matrix

There's something about his movement that reminds me of Luke Hodge too.

Clark Kent... and The Man of Steele
Not a bad midfield combination. Both have same hairstyles, similar play style

It's nice to read some positive remarks about our recruits rather than the usual trashing of our recruiting team

Yes indeed. Nice to be positive about new recruits. I hope that Hunter lives up to the hype.

Someone ought to revive that thread from when Tommy Walsh was recruited.

At the risk of jinxing the lad, he reminds of Nathan Freeman as a junior. Wins his own ball and has that crucial burst of acceleration. He's a class act, no doubt. He'll play straight away, just as the Gresh did. Imagine if Freezer comes good. Pace problem solved!

"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Just to keep score...

A mix of Lenny Hayes, Robert Harvey, Simon Black, Nicky Winmar, Luke Hodge, Cyril Rioli and Nathan Freeman

All at pick 7. What were those other morons before us doing.

You left out Sam Mitchell.
So if he doesn't win the B&F, Brownlow, Norm Smith and make the AA team in his first year he's a bust. Is that how it works?

Who can keep tabs?

Well not quite... those are individual achievements of those players. He’s a hybrid. Therefore I surmise that he must win all of them, every season.
