Saints a chance for pick 2 and 21

Post: # 1704244Post parkeysainter »

Gold Coast is keen to swap their 2 picks for our 2 picks in order to land Lachie Wellar and still have a top 10 pick for themselves.

This could go down tomorrow Saints fans!

Would #21 land Tomlinson or Haynes?
They are the two names thrown up so far on this forum.

Just a whisper floating around. It could happen. Apparantly Freo has to come out to play though to make it happen. They want pick 2 for Wellar but GC still want pick 7 or 8 in this three way trade/swap.

This is what I have been suggesting since I heard the Weller news. I would like to do it.
Take best available at 2, and hope someone great slides out of the first round. Like Balta, Bonar or someone exciting like Petruccelle.
Or make a last minute play for Haynes or Tomlinson again.

Maybe that is the plan.

Yep. Agreed. Its possible pick 21 would be used in a trade though.

How is Weller worth pick 2? I've only seen him a few times, but I can't believe it's being considered.

He isn't. That is why GC wants this 3 way swap. They don't want to give their pick 2 for him.

Maybe push for 2,21, 37 for 7,8, 45?

Throw in 57 as well for good measure and that might happen.

well they say the draft has 3 standouts and anther 7 very goods and then drops right off, in this scenario we go from 2 very goods to a standout and either a gamble or a known player

What are the chances they'll do this deal just for the impression of having done something,
then blow pick 2 on some guy who can barely get on the track?

I'd prefer keeping picks 7 and 8.

Agree. Top 4 are absolute guns...

Rayner, Davies-Uniacke, Cerra and Dow. All mids and locks for round 1.

I reckon we grab one. Then roll the dice with 21.

Im with you on this. We didn't exactly hit the jackpot with 1 & 21 a few years back.

dumb decision. We get two bites at the cherry with 7 &8. Depending on which phantom draft you look at we can get an outside mid Jaidyn Stephenson, Jack Higgins, Lochie O'Brien and a defender Noah Balta, Harrison Petty or Aaron Naughton.

Or we can get Luke Davies-Uniacke, Cameron Rayner, Paddy Dow or Adam Cerra. All inside mids and who knows with pick 21.

Not even a question in my opinion

Sounds obvious, but all a lower pick does is help them get the player they want.

That’s it!

No guarantees after that.

Rayner, Dow or two dads. 21 used to snare Tomlinson. Might have to throw in some junk picks so they can get points up to get their Academy players. Aggressive, not reckless. It will all happen between 12 and 2.00 pm tomorrow. As always.

"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."

"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Agree, 1 pick is always more risky than 2 in terms of potential game time. The alternative is that you miss a potential Riewolt.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

A pick 2 mid....we're potentially looking at the next Chris Judd or Dustin Martin being at the Saints.
