G Ablett has asked to go back to Sleepy Hollow

Post: # 1701100Post MickThomas »

All over twittersphere
Ablett asked Suns to make the moves
to trade him back to the Cats...

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Be interesting to see what role Motlop has to play in getting the deal done come trade period.

Geez, can't really respect Gas too much for this decision.

Took the money a couple of years ago signing a long term contract, and now is jumping ship because he wants go home, essentially taking the money and running, even though he made the decision to sign the contract for that long

Amazing that he went from going from a lazy hack to the most dominant midfielder of our time overnight

Great friends with 'the weapon' too

And he has declared he will retire if not traded back to the Cats. What a load of crap. He is contracted and on big bucks. Plus Pickers said last week he could play another 3-4 seasons.

This saga is just going to drag on and on. Barret and co are already licking their lips no doubt.

Being contracted and deciding to break the terms of his contract by not playing- i.e. retiring-
there should be big financial penalties for non-compliance and non-conformance.
He can't just refuse to play unless he is injured. Medically cleared- he is obligated to get onto the park for the Suns.
Suggest this shows a lack of commitment and self-discipline to see it through.

Obviously their money isn't good enough for the little bald-headed crybaby.

Nose out of joint because Tom Lynch is the new marquee player getting extra money under the table?
Gablett no longer the No 1 poster boy?

It won't happen, but I should hope he earns a fair amount of ridicule from this and loses a decent amount of respect too.

Also, we all admire Geelong for doing a lot right that they've been a very successful club for a long time now BUT boy have they had some luck.

Honestly the GC are a complete train wreck - can you blame him?

Upwards of 10 players who want out, no coach, no fans, loooking down the barrel of a complete rebuild. The afl should fold them or relocate to tassie

He'll play with Geelong next year for sure.
That's my opinion only but living down this way and knowing the workings there I'm certain of it.
They are desperate (while appearing to be indifferent to the chances of it happening, yeah right !) to get him back.
Once he's back watch his output go through the roof, injuries to be less common and membership to go up.

Let's face it, they have been a failure the last 6 years.
Out in straight sets last year and no GF this year.
Won 3 out of 12 finals since 2011.

GAJ and possibly Stringer will help their supporters through their "finals fatigue"

If they do this and win the 2018 flag I'll do a Terry Wallace and fair dinkum SPEW UP.

I don't mind him wanting to go home, but Geelong need to cough up… they took him at what pick #40 in the draft originally, got 2 flags and a brownlow, then got 2 first rounders when he left, now they want him back?

Seeing as they have very little currency in picks, they need to hand over a very good player.

Chequebook.
Mr Selfish.
Guess in terms of morals he didn't have a good mentor in his father.

He's been great for Gold Coast...not his fault they're a basket case.
He's entitled to try get back to the place he loves and wants to finish his career.
Good on him.
