Tippett

Post: # 1700221Post diddley »

In all seriousness here, are we worth looking at Kurt Tippett. I personally am in 2 minds about it.
Now, before everyone goes and says his pay packet is not worth it, Travis Cloke showed last year that some players are willing to take a pay cut to leave a club to try to get some more games. And while the Cloke experiment didn't exactly work out that well, that's beside the point. I would only begin to even think about this if the deal was cheap, and so was his re-negotiated contract.
He has a dual ability of being a forward and a ruck. This would be fairly useful with the saints. We would get have ruck relieving, as well as a mature forward in the mix. It would help develop players like Rowan Marshall, and possibly even other rucks to get some duality.
That being said, the other side to it would be, it would strangle some game time from developing players in the team. Plus his form seems to be dropping hard.
I could only see him being around for 2 years max at this stage, so any investment would have to be minimum.
If the deal is right, is it worth something like a 2 year punt?

He's only worth $100,000 per annum.

USELESS FACT: The WADA case against Essendon (in Sydney as well) is exactly 10 years to the day that Australia qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Would be a huge mistake.
Rather gets games in to Marshall.

I hope not. I don't want any more short term solutions. Lets look mid term now.

Absolutely not.

That said, the guy can definitely play… massive waste of talent, not sure what went wrong but he kicked 240 goals in 110 games in the 2009 - 2014 seasons.

I stood next to Tippett at the airport once. He is a monster size wise. I'm 6ft 5 inch and he made me feel small. Massive barrel chest.

Having said that, he's too injury prone, so my vote is no.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Agree,Marshall to be developed makes more sense even short term than an overpaid Tippett playing at sandy

is there other ruck/forward players that are potentially being put on the trade table?
Or just others in general, like a midfielder, that has nothing to do with this post at all?

Ask any Swans fan what they think of us looking at Tippett.
After they stop laughing and ask if you're serious you may get the heart to heart talk.
I know some and they do not speak highly. Not hard to see the reasoning.

NO THANKS. Are we aiming for glory or mediocrity ?

He would be a good fit for Richmond.
