Jamie Cripps

Post: # 1699549Post IluvHarvey »

Is anyone really upset Jamie left us?
Some players who have left you see playing and think "oh god we can do with them now" (Hello Tom Lynch)
But personally I have never felt that way about Cripps.

Not a bad player, I'm more bitter at the compo we got after he nominated just the one club.

Being our first round pick @ 24 into a pick in the 40's was a genuine waste of a pick and development in the end.

Luke Parker would have been handy, taken at pick 40 in 2010.

As an aside, apparently we were unaware of Cripps was a diabetic when we picked him, then he went into hospital soon after… interesting that we would have another crack with Paddy soon after.

Disagree d man. He's one dimensional and can't play through the midfield.

He's s***.

Agree on the comp bit though.

We overlooked Jack Darling to get Cripps. Then, to add insult to injury he ends up at WC as well for a couple of junk picks. GOP at best, who won't get any better. A bit of a howler, really.

Darling is a squib and a draft tampering sook too… he would have got home the same way Jamie did.

The Eagles forward looks great during the year, come September, they are all crap, especially Kennedy.

How does that happen ?

Will the Saints ever have a quality midfield ?

No.

I'm a bit upset they got rid of Hutchins so early (one year as a rookie and then he had hip operations on both hips I think.

It goes to show that our recruiters sometimes have no idea. Hutchins was picked up in the same draft as Nicholas Winmar and they had Winmar on the main list, spent two years with us and played 2 games. Right away you could see Hutchins was the better player but not the development department. Where's Winmar now dickheads?

Incorrect on Hutchins he was not committed to AFL at the time and only after spending 1 or 2 years at loca l WAFL decided to renominate

He was very committed. No idea why anyone would think otherwise. On Cripps has been a good afl player and played many games and was always getting a game under 4 different coaches. No star but I think most players would love his career. Like all smalls forwards looks ordinary when tge side struggles

Hutchins ? how do you know he was committed? No one snapped him up as soon as he was delisted by the saints?

Cripps - good AFL player??? Give me a break - ask any Eagles supporter what they think of him. Timid sheepdog.

Interesting theory. If you are committed you must be picked up. What about having both hips done at once when doctors said it would easier for you if they were done separately but he wanted to get them done so the recovery time was less. As for Cripps well anyone who plays 100 games is a good afl footballer. I didn't know supporters decide if you were a good footballer. Fancy me thinking the coach picking you each week suggested you were.

Has been very good for West Coast. In big games too.

4 goals 3 tonight in a final against the Bombers. Was very good.

3 goals in the prelim last year.

A very good forward player.

A shame some had written off before even playing a game.

One that got away.

Ever heard Adam Simpson speak about Cripps? He’s in their first 3 picked each week and their most important forward (not my opinion; his coach’s)

He’s one serious footballer

Spot on.

Richo gave the 5 votes on 3AW for tonight’s game too.

Very very good.

Wasn’t that the same year where we were trying to get Brown from the Eagles and they refused to deal, despite Brown nominating us?

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

No, that was later.
At the time - end of 2011/12 Cripps said he wanted to go home - but specifically to the Eagles. We, that is the regime with Watters as coach, traded him to West Coast for a packet of twisties, with the promise and understanding that the Eagles would reciprocate in the future.
As you have said, a couple of seasons later Brown wanted to move east with his wife and the Eagles wouldn't do the deal.
