Eddie was a last minute emergency for Zac Dawson on the eve of the 2009 granny. Zac was a bit sick and in doubt.
Sadly, Hughton even in this instance was out of favour.
Eddy used the word "role" a lot. The ultimate role player.
There was an opportunity potentially for him at GWS in 2011 after his delisting but ended up being offered a rookie contract by us.

It was a great listen with many insights.
He has had a bad run. That finals ....broken jaw and then two weeks later a broken arm!
Then the next season two more broken arms!
And now has had a hip replacement as is only 29.

Eddy wasn't a great talent, but wow, the injury toll he endured was incredible in just a short period of time in the game. Played out the 2010 GF with a snapped forearm, which he got in the first quarter (and a broken jaw from the week before). And there i was on that day, critical of his poor game. Just goes to show that we need to be careful when we criticise players' performances. I remember Goddard playing out the 2009 GF with a broken thumb and a broken collarbone from around early in the 2nd quarter. Never question the toughness of AFL players.
