Stuck in the middle with u - but without Roo

Post: # 1694639Post Yorkeys »

Possibly just maudlin watching Nick today:
In 2017, 3 sides passed us on the way up and two on their way down. The upsides have v. good forwards: Daniher, Hogan, Dixon (well he's just ok, but Gray crumbs and mostly he gets the ball delivered.) Saint Kilda does not have a class key forward any more, notwithstanding speculation about uncertain potential. To restate the ad nauseum obvious our attacking system is highly inefficient. Hawthorn, Eagles and Collingwood are regrouping as we speak. How the heck are we going to play finals in the next couple of years if Paddy and/or Marshall don't become elite forwards, and how do they become elite if they are not given senior games. Please tell me its going to be ok.

'Well I don't know why I came here tonight,
I got the feelin' that somethin' ain't right,
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I'm wonderin' how I'll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me, Joker's to the right,
Here I am Stuck in the middle with you
Yes I'm, Stuck in the middle with you

On the positive side, you don't necessarily need a superstar key forward to win a flag. Clubs have been known to win one with a couple of servicible ones.

I can't think of any sides that have won a flag without an excellent midfield though.

Rooey going, while very sad, is an opportunity for the next generation to stand up.

Yes, it's a huge area of concern. When Membrey is our main focal point up forward, we're not exactly looking formidable inside 50m.

Hopefully no one will have an ear sliced off and get doused with gasoline over this.

Who is Saint Kilda?

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

New words to that song:
"Kobes to the left of me, Newnes to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle without Roo!"

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

True. Geelong had Cam Mooney pre Hawkins coming of age, good but hardly a gun. However, he was really important in their 2007 Premiership year.
