Being a footy fan, could be compared to being religious
- We believe in something bigger than ourselves
- some of us go occasionally to watch the game, some go very regularly (religiously!)
- things happen which tests the resolve
- scandals aren't too far away
- being the target of abuse and slander from members of competing faiths
- hoping to experience the ultimate joy which is the eternal promise

and there's a lot of people in positions of power, making a helluva lot of money from the faith as well, and
we suspect that they are just mercenary and have no interest in it except that it pays their mortgages and makes them rich
