Secret Weapon?

Post: # 1691380Post GregPackhamsHeadband »

I heard an interesting segment on SEN, that highlighted the spray Brad Scott gave Majak Daw. What exactly was said? A lip reader provided The Ox with a transcript of what he believed was said. The Ox checked with Brad Scott, who confirmed the lip reader was spot on. Now given that there are cameras fixed permanently on the coaches' boxes, would it be worth getting a lip reader in to monitor the feed and pass the information on to the coaching staff? Imagine knowing what your opponent was doing and discussing before he had a chance to implement it. It would certainly keep you a step ahead. An idea so crazy it might just work!

I would think there would be some covert devices that would be a little easier to utilise than a lip reader if you wanted to go down this path.

You might find that coaching staffs will resort to putting up a tent soon to conceal their quarter time and three quarter time huddles.

It's a bit reminiscent to pitchers and catchers conferring during in inning in MLB, where the pitcher covers his mouth with his glove and the catcher leaves his mask on so the other team can't get a read from their lips and tap into their strategy. I believe the language they communicate in has been referred to as glovenese.

The problem would be legality. It's illegal to eavesdrop on private conversations. Stiff penalties apply if you get caught. This is something a little different. I can feel a "lawyer fest" coming on! :D

Indeed, Jiggster. A self-labelled "weapon". A weapon of mass destruction. Unfortunately, the weapon went off while still in the hangar.
