Sometimes when reading the posts on this forum, I'm reminded of a dear old pal of mine from the sixties, who, when being told he was a (quote) " miserable twat " (unquote ) came back as fast as lightning to say: (quote) " yeah, I AM a miserable twat! an' Ill be HAPPY being a miserable twat" (unquote)

I cite this example, in order to illustrate, that pals and colleagues don't always look at things from the same point of view, the point, however, is to accept this, and remain pals and colleagues!

Some on here, will always look for the positives, others, for the negatives.

There's no " right or wrong way" to show support for the Saints!

I hate feeling pessimistic towards the Saints' fortunes, but sometimes it's very hard not to. I do, however, have my moments of optimism for them, so I'm not always a "miserable twat".

I've never (ahem) "overused" a WORK COLLEAGUE in my life!

It's ok to be negative or glass half empty kind of person, I don't expect everyone to be positive and I like as much as anyone to debate players strengths and perceived weaknesses ... etc etc

however I do object to posters continually bagging our players who are out there doing their best... no one goes out to
Play badly... let me assure you... it's not in their own, team mates or the clubs interest. I would presume anyone who has played even close elite grade football wouldn't do it.. it takes courage to play at an elite level... full stop


I always think that while you can say whatever you like , you shouldn't say it unless you are prepared to say the same to the players face .

I relate to a fellow saints supporter who in the early days continually bagged Plugger in very early carrear.. fat slow lazy etc etc. I grew so tired of it and asked him would he be game to say that to Plugger to his face. He said he would ...no problems.

So one day I drove him to the Stockyards hotel in Ballarat, cause I knew Plugger was working in his old mans bottle shop, I wound down the electric passenger window and when Plugger came up and said "Hi ". I invited my supporter friend to tell a Plugger what he thought of him. He s*** himself , totally , I made my point.

So if you want to call players weak , useless , etc etc ... have the balls to say it to their face. I guarantee none if you will.

Interesting OP...overall I would say I am an optimist in life...but when it comes to the Saints I tend towards pessimism.
